This is the one piece of policy he totally owns. Whatever happens, good, bad, or neither this policy is the one piece of administration policy he totally controls. He is the Commander in Chief and his party is in power in the Senate and House. He has support from the opposition party in increasing troops (not so much in decreasing). He can do whatever he feels best.
Whatever he decides on next Tuesday, he owns this. He might not have made the decision to invade or been in control when this war was first prosecuted but he is in charge now. No President gets a clean slate. This President's slate is pretty much as messed up as only 3 other men who went into that office in our history. It isn't fair, but no one forced him to run for President. He had competition and he wanted the job. There may or not have been a better person, he was obviously the better man of the man he competed with for the final interview.
God help us, and the families of the people both in this country and over there if he makes the wrong decision.
I have my opinion, but my opinion, and everyone else on DU's opinion doesn't matter on this, it is one man's opinion. Hopefully he comes up with the right idea of what to do with the mess he was given.
