Every Senator who voted against cloture should NOT be allowed to take part in the debate...
and they shouldn't be allowed to introduce amendments, either. That's all.

1. Rec'd! They should STFU at this point. No reason for them to
have a damned thing to say.

4. Thank you...
their wish was to not have ANY debate. So why should they get to stall and introduce amendments for a bill they obviously want nothing to do with?!

6. I hope like hell that somebody tells them just that! You didn't want
to debate so sit your ass down and shut the hell up. They aren't going to vote for it anyway. STFU!!!!

That would be great!

3. I'd go further than that.
I'd also exclude some of the ones who voted FOR cloture.

Lieberman
Nelson
Lincoln
Landrieu
Baucus
Conrad

just to name a few examples

7. I'd say...
all of those planning on voting against cloture before the final vote shouldn't be allowed to add amendments. Why should they get to ruin a bill then not even vote to allow it to go to an up-or-down vote?

11. That is an awesome strategy if you do not want the bill to pass

21. I want it to pass. And all those who DON'T want it to pass (everyone who voted against
cloture) won't vote for it to pass. I don't get your logic.

Run for Senate, then maybe you can tell people what to do. Have any DEMS voted against cloture on other bills? Should they be censored? Strange.

15. So anyone who ever votes against cloture
should have some of their rights as a Senator stripped away? Is that what you're trying to say? If so, odd.

18. Yes. The rule should be changed so that anyone who does not want to
allow debate should not be allowed to take part in the debate.

23. That's politics.
You say something or vote one way, and then the next minute you're voting and saying something different. Yes, the rule would need to be changed in order for me to agree with your statement. But since it's not, then I can't agree with it. But I probably wouldn't agree with it.

16. I posted basically the same thing yesterday - if they voted against bring the bill to the floor to
debate it, why should they be allowed to debate it?

It doesn't make sense. But then again, repugs very rarely do.

20. Haha - I got the same thing yesterday,.
The first few responses were Yeah - I agree, then all the sudden I started getting people posting that I didn't know what I was talking about  as if I'm not allowed to make an observation and as I have any influence in the Senate - harhar.

Sometimes I feel like people just like to argue no matter what.

I just don't understand how people that don't want to debate healthcare should be allowed to debate healthcare. And I don't understand how anyone can disagree. Oh well. That's DU ;)

24. Picture a scenario 30 years in the future.
The Democrats only have 40 seats in the Senate. The Christian-Republican Party has 60 seats. Tha Constitution has been altered 10 years ago and Congress is now responsible for education. The CR's want to have Darwinism removed from the National curriculum and Intelligent Design inserted in it's place. The Cloture vote takes place. Predictably the vote was along party lines. The Dems tried to stop the bill by voting against cloture and lost. There is no way that any Democrat is going to vote for this travesty! But, should they at least not try in debate to stall, stop or change the bill to make it more acceptable?
