We must blame members of Obama's top advisers including the SOS and VP who voted for that useless war. Neither of those 2 made the right decision, so why now do we act as if they know what they're talking about when it comes to wars. I really wish Obama would use his own mind and heart on this. His independence is why I voted for him, but the more time goes on, u realize he's just another politician.

1. I want out of both of these wars as well. However, I don't think
President Obama is just another politician. He isn't the one who got us into these wars, it was Bush. I agree that the President needs to listen to other advisors and/or his own heart regarding troop withdrawal. My sense is that it's a million times more complicated than he ever imagined and that there are probably a lot of things we, the regular citizens, don't know due to National Security. These ARE NOT President Obama's wars and keep in mind he's been in office less than a year. Plus, he's dealing with such major issues that he truly inherited it absolutely boggles the mind. I think he's working on getting the troops out of Iraq and, if memory serves, I also think he always realized Afghanistan was a completely different situation.

2. Do you think the SOS and VP are the final decision makers?
Edited on Tue Nov-24-09 02:15 AM by firedupdem
Do you really think you know what's going on behind the scenes?

You don't seem to like much about the President anyway, so I shouldn't be surprised by your posts here.

Edited to add: YES I CAN blame bush for all this war shit!

6. Go ahead, that's real easy....
I'll continue to remind you that bush destroyed this country, and no matter how many posts you make attempting to shift the blame, I'll call you out on it.

I just found out that Barack Obama Sr. already had a wife in Kenya while Obama was being born
Edited on Wed Nov-18-09 05:11 PM by LovinLife
Shouldn't that end the Birthers? Why would he take his new American wife back to Kenya? Apparently Ann Dunham didn't find out about his other wife until much later. Interesting. I've been reading up on Mark Obama. He's interesting. i wonder if he could do Geithner's job.

I suppose he still could've been born in Kenya.

5. "We Must" not have to do a damn thing.
Edited on Tue Nov-24-09 02:28 AM by FrenchieCat
But thank you for stating your opinion as to whom you blame for what.
Since all of congress at that time voted to go into Afghanistan (other than My Rep Barbara Lee),
and since many of us voted for them, aren't we all a bit to blame?

After all, George Bush had a 90% approval rate for that move....
and at the time, only 10% were saying boo.

But the simpler fact is that you can only speak for yourself,
even if others may agree. So this "We Must" bullshit doesn't compute.

On edit: And yes, I can just fucking Blame BrainFart Bush and his posse.
Just Watch me.

10. Eighty nine and ninety percent are numbers the CIA uses
Both here and abroad.

I mean, in this nation, usually eleven percent are "undecided" about almost anything.

So I remain suspicious of ninety percent.

11. Obama ran on getting us out of Iraq and moving into Afghanistan...
He is not a pacifist and certainly not antiwar.

To his credit, I think he believes our involvement in Afghanistan is necessary for the long term stability of the region, which is a primary national security issue.

He used his own mind and heart to escalate the war in Afghanistan once, and appears to be about to do it again. He is the President. The decisions are his, not some cabal of hawkish Democrats and Bush holdovers.

Biden has been against a huge troop surge. And Obama has been using his own mind and heart by actually taking his time to see what he wants to in Afganistan.
