Handy, Dandy Guide to Tomorrow's State Visit Events
Edited on Tue Nov-24-09 01:30 AM by Clio the Leo
(for all of my fellow pomp and circumstance geeks)

Events will be streamed here:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/live/

9:10am - Arrival Ceremony for the Prime Minister of India

11:40am - President Obama and Prime Minister Singh Hold Press Conference

2:00pm - The History and Protocol of State and Official Visits with the First Lady
(no, I have no idea what that means either, but it sounds interesting)

8:15pm - State Dinner in Honor of His Excellency Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, and Mrs. Gursharan Kaur

These are the folks you want to train your eyes for....

.... the Americans are the TALLER couple. ;)
(giants! seriously! we've got a couple of GIANT people leading this country)

So Manmohan, we've got this awesome house back in DC. Seriously, there's a bowling alley and everything! You should stop by sometime.

.... grrrr .... breaking ....... the State Dinner has been moved outside from the gloriously guilded East Room to .... a TENT! For crying out loud!!! Obama why!!!! Do you know how long I've been looking forward to this and you're giving me a TENT!!!!

grrrrr ...... I am not pleased.

Oh well, cheers!

Which, sadly, has been moved inside because of the rain. Clearly this is an effort by the right wing to ruin my day.

10. lol, well, I dont think it's tacky....
.... they did it for practical reasons, so they could invite more people ... you know those darned Obamas, always trying to be pragmatic and include everyone. ;)

But I have been looking forward to a state dinner INSIDE the WH for ...... 10 months now ..... we all have our push button issues. :)

I know, I know, wah wah wah, where's my pony! lol

12. They showed a photo this morning.....
.... of a state dinner the Clintons did in a tent. It was gorgeous, HUGE chandeliers and everything, just like the ones in the East Room. They definately had the swank aspect covered.

I'm just a history nut. ;)
