"Fox News Threatens Pink Slips For On-Screen Errors"
Well .... how cute.

Fox News Threatens Pink Slips For On-Screen Errors
Rachel Slajda | November 23, 2009, 2:03PM

After a rash of mistakes and apologies over the past weeks, Fox News has sent a memo to employees announcing a new "zero tolerance" policy for on-screen errors.

FishBowlDC obtained the memo, sent last Friday, which warns mistakes could lead to written warnings, suspensions and termination.

"Please know that jobs are on the line here. I can not stress that enough," the memo reads.

Fox has had three much-noticed errors in the past few weeks. First, Sean Hannity used misleading footage to beef up attendance numbers at a Capitol Hill tea party rally -- an incident that caught the attention of the Daily Show's Jon Stewart, forcing Hannity to apologize on air.

Then, last week, one of the midday news shows aired footage of an old Sarah Palin campaign rally to show the "crowds" at her current book tour. An anchor apologized a day later, and Fox blamed a "production error."

Finally, in another segment about Palin's book, the network showed the cover of a satire book called "Going Rouge" instead of her actual memoir, "Going Rogue."

The network is also going to "zero base" its news production, according to the memo.

That means we will start by going to air with only the most essential, basic, and manageable elements. To share a key quote from today's meeting: "It is more important to get it right, than it is to get it on." We may then build up again slowly as deadlines and workloads allow so that we can be sure we can quality check everything before it makes air, and we never having to explain, retract, qualify or apologize again.

Rogue has an ugly definition.

2. So...will REALITY be considered an "essential, basic and manageable element"?
That'd be a switch for those guys.

15. Sometimes they bite the dog themselves, if nobody's bitten him yet!
And then they say the dogbiter is a Democrat.

4. The problem with the term Rogue is that the definition has changed over the
years from being negative to being positive. Rogues go against the status quo or they rogue go against everyone else and stands alone against all odds. A rogue is to be admired for their standing alone when everyone else is going along with the program. But then a conservative can never be a rogue as conservatives never stand alone or go against status quo. It's pretty much like the king George supporters calling themselves true patriots of the american revolution because they supported king George instead of their neighbors.

6. So...it wasn't the endless cavalcade of (D) instead of (R) next
to deviant Republicans, but rather upsetting Saint Sarah and her band of miscreants that set Fox off?

Why am I not surprised?

7. No doubt Faux must take this seriously.
If those people permit cracks to appear in Faux’s thin facade of wholesome truthiness, viewers will be able to peer through to the purposefully poisonous venom that lies at the heart of their broadcasts.

11. I have been wondering if this is merely "errors" on the part of...
some at FAUX, or, whether these "errors" are being created by a mole in their video/crawl sections?

Seems to me, there have been quite a few of them lately, and for FAUX to "have" to apologize or make changes is far from the "norm" for them. They've been losing tons of money, these "errors" haven't helped their bottom line. It just appears like a form of sabotage to me...

12. I think some of the "errors" were invented to shift blame for other "errors"
They knew what they were doing with the "tea party" footage. That was no mistake. Nor, were their previous and subsequent "mistakes." I believe they purposely switched the books so that they could claim that it was only some dumb flunky screwing up all along. They thought nobody was watching who would call them out on their frauds. They were wrong. Now, they're trying to make it look like they just did a poor job of hiring low-level staff.
