"I'd like to interrupt the anniversary-bash-Obama-fest: Obama has done a good job"
"Tough choices have come rushing at him, and in most cases he's chosen well. It's worth picking up our heads from the latest poll and even from the Senate election, at least for a moment or two, to acknowledge as much.”

Fred Hiatt, the editor of the Washington Post’s editorial page.

2. a little from column A, a little from column B
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 11:57 AM by sui generis
It's the case that the other cases he missed *the rest of the "in most cases he's chosen well"* meme that minimizes the abject failure to produce viable healthcare reform, the inability to fundamentally recognize servicemen and women who happen to be gay as fully American, and the inability to exercise a civil rights standard that would guarantee the right of any adult american to be married to any other consulting adult.

Those are some pretty big topics to marginalize and still call yourself an American. Bashing? On those topics, certainly, the stick is well deserved.

But Obama also gets kudos for starting to change the tone on the foreign policy stage. I can't think what else. Oh yeah, open and welcoming prayer breakfasts for politicians from Uganda who propose murdering gays and lesbians and their supporters. Investigating the rampant torture and murder of gays and lesbians in Iraq, a country which we occupy. I don't know what else was in the parts he forgot, you know, the "little things". Upholding immunity from torture prosecution. Continuing the administration policy of firing Arabic translators who happen to be gay. Not really changing a single god damn thing that anyone would notice.

Pollution credits. Reregulating energy industry pricing - anyone notice how screamingly cheap a gallon of gas is? Sure take a break. Admire his good qualities, his presidential decorum, his ability to enunciate and appear to be articulate.

I like his wardrobe. Does that count?

7. Given the looting of the Treasury and Federal Reserve, given almost total labor upheaval,
given the general hatred of the US by other nations that abounded 8 years before his election, to say nothing of wars and rumors of wars, given that there are so many big ol' holes in our dyke all of which can't be plugged at once, President Obama has done an exemplary job of holding us together.

He's got clowns to the left of him, jokers to the right, and he's stuck in the middle, what with opposition against him from the media, his own party and the repugs.

He's done well, given that everything, every.thing. was a big ol' mess when he took office. As a friend recently said, we're Wile Coyote hanging in the air after going over the cliff.

8. If you're a Wall Street Banker or the CEO of a Health Insurance Corporation...
Obama has done a GREAT job!
Couldn't have done better.

If you Work for a Living.....not so much.

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans. I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans, family farmers, and people who haven't felt the benefits of the economic upturn."---Paul Wellstone

12. Being lax on real national security by allowing the corporate commie armada
to plunder and destroy the American economy is not a good job. He didn't start it but he should be on full red alert and should be rallying the people to force Congress to do it's damn job.
