Get out of Afghanistan

This country can't afford sending more men and women to die and to
militarily occupy any parts of this country. How much more blood
and money will be wasted there defending what against what?

We can't afford these wars and occupation. Obama can let this
ride through his presidency or he can do the right thing and
just say no more.

Afghani and Iraqi women frankly haven't been any better off under our occupation
and we shouldn't be hiding behind their burkas as an excuse.

While we're throwing huge amounts of money supposedly supplying
jobs, infrastructure and healthcare over there, the same needs go
underfunded here.

For a pragmatic president, Obama needs to look at this situation
with fresh eyes and intelligence and declare that we just can't afford to be
the world's military, occupier and nations builder. We can't afford
to keep putting money into our military complex either.

1. A stupid, senseless WAR impossible to "win".
No Military Objective + No Exit Strategy = Quagmire

Out NOW!

2. Obama is between Afghanistan and a hard place.
If he pulls out of Afghanistan the Taliban will probably defeat the inept Afghan government we've been propping up all these years and celebrate the defeat of the "Great Satan" in the streets of Kabul. Also celebrating behind closed doors will be the Rethuglicans who will ride this result all the way back from the political purgatory chimpy put them in. Can you imagine how loudly they will howl that Obama is a weakling on national security who doesn't have the courage to stand up to America's enemies?

Ironically, it would be much safer politically for Obama to continue our useless effusion of blood and treasure in Afghanistan. It would take REAL COURAGE to stand before the American people and explain why it makes more sense to pull out and acknowledge that all the expense and sacrifice of the last 8 years has been in vain. It would take REAL POLITICAL SKILL to do this without comitting political suicide in terms of the political fortunes of himself and his party.

This article by Dan Froomkin in the Huffington Post does a pretty good job of laying out Obama's dilemma:
