7. I too, am a drunken Irishman
I just use a name my Hispanic buddies gave me.
I'm almost done with 'Trinity'. a book that has explained the 'troubles' to me finally.
The Irish were discriminated against almost as much as the African Americans and the American Indians, even in their own country.
Drinking, prose and poetry.

3. He's an idiot.
The only reason he got close to winning that Senate seat in Maryland was because he thought the voters were as stupid as him.

4. Steele is such a damn idiot. He should have kept his mouth shut after that comment.
Let's not even forget the "I'll bring the fried chicken" comment in regards to bringing black people into the GOP. His sickening and truly a product of his environment.

11. typical Repug "do as I say, not as I do" ...
Like Dick Cheney mentioning his lesbian daughter (to prove he's not anti-gay) ... but have a Dem mention his lesbian daughter ... all hell in the media breaks loose ...

6. I don't see why they keep him unless he is saying what
they want said.

Probably they don't find the remarks offensive.

And, they can always say, " Well MIchael is AAmerican so it must be OK for him to say those things.

What a mess !~ however, we can also think of "Lil Mikie as the gift that keeps on giving.

8. Now one of the common butt republicans are calling for Reid to resign.
Why. Did he have an affair with one of his interns, pay her husband off, and then get him a job illegally with a lobbyist. Remember you have to wait two years before you can quit a government job and get a lobbyist job. The he tried legislation for his girl friend's husband turned lobbyist.

Did the republicans ask him to resign ...hell no.

Or maybe he left the country to visit his girl friend in Argentina while being the governor of a state, spent taxpayers money for the trip, did not inform his cabinet where he was. AND did the republicans ask for him to resign..Hell no.

So with all the illegal actions and this is just two that the republicans have done, who in the republican party called for any one of them to resign...guess it seems like if a Democrat just MIS-SPEAKS he should resign. And oh yeah how about the piece of s**t who yelled you lie during the president's State of the Union address. NOT ONE...NOT ONE STINKING ABSOLUTE CRUMMY A** REPUBLICAN ASKED HIM TO RESIGN.

Seems like republicans think of themselves as gods, above the average range of actions of the people. But let a Democrat hesitated and he is asked to resign. Reid should use a cheney....tell them to GO F**K THEMSELVES. Maybe that would pep em up.

10. Steele should be chair for LIFE!!!
..... because he's doing a GREAT job and he brings me joy.

I fear that if he goes, they might be able to locate a Republican with an actual brain and put her in charge. :)

12. Are you kidding? He was in danger of losing his job until the Repigs
figured they could trot him out to comment on Reid's "racism". Yeah, this minstrel show player, this Rochester stepin' fetchit who's willing to be the token, he finally gets to justify his existence. They love him right now.

As for "Trinity" I read that years ago and had the same experience. I never realized till then that the Irish were one of the most discriminated against Caucasian groups this side of us Ashkenazi Jews. Only y'all didn't have the diaspora, this oppression happened in your own country!

I think it's about tribalism: how The System does its best to break up family and small social units, putting this market mentality in place that isolates and makes people feel lost. Ireland has always been about clans and family--nothing is more a threat to government control than that! (PS: you notice the English and the Germans had no trouble embracing corporatism and moving away from stable family units!)
