"FREEDOM" Republican Style
Oh, the right wingers these days. How these paranoid nutjobs love to rant and create some FAKE crisis about losing their "freedom." Well, let's let them face their brand of American "freedom." :

1) free to allow insurance company profits to rise 400% while costs for consumers double

2) free to allow insurance company executives to become multimillionaires while tens of millions of Americans have no healthcare

3) free to allow businesses to ship jobs overseas at the expense of American families

4) free to allow runaway sub prime lending and speculation resulting in the Great Recession

5) free to be hateful and hurtful while claiming to be religious

6) free to be racist

7) free to be paranoid, ignorant, entirely uninformed, and completely hypocritical

8) free to lie and echo right wing propaganda via Limbaugh, Beck, and the rest of that brain-dead ilk

9) free to think the Earth is flat

10) free to think dinosaurs were on Earth 5000 years ago

11) free to deny the proven existence of global warming and to destroy the natural environment

12) free to think we should return to the 18th century

13) free to give billion dollar tax breaks to millionaires and billioniares who don't need them

14) free to start a needless war of choice and celebrate death while claiming to love Jesus

15) free to squander trillions on the needless war of choice while cynically demonizing health reform
and claiming to be "fiscally responsible"

2. People are obviously free to think many of the ideas on this list
Edited on Sun Nov-22-09 12:12 PM by ck4829
A person is free to be #5 through #11, but they want to push these ideas on us, force them on us, teach them in schools, push government propaganda with those ideas, etc.

And that's not freedom at all.

K&R.

5. Sure they can think it, stupid as they are. Your phrasing would have been better though.

3. Who can forget 9ui11iani on Freedom?
"We look upon authority too often and focus over and over again, for 30 or 40 or 50 years, as if there is something wrong with authority. We see only the oppressive side of authority. Maybe it comes out of our history and our background. What we don't see is that freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do."

11. Whoops sorry - It was quoted so much here when he said it
I guess I thought it went under the guise of common knowledge.
I googled "Giulliani on Freedom" and went to the first listing
http://www.nytimes.com/1994/03/20/nyregion/freedom-is-about-authority-excerpts-from-giuliani-speech-on-crime.html

What I put in was the third paragraph. I believe Rudy was still running for pres at the time.
I remember that the wingers loved it.

8. MORE RePUKElican "Freedoms":
* free to assault a woman's right to make her own reproductive decisions

* free to trample into our bedrooms and hospitals rooms dictating our private decisions

* free to deny consenting adults of the same gender who want to marry (or even civilly unite) that right

* free to advance bills of attainder against political "enemies"

* free to lobby unrestrictedly and buy off the politicians completely

10. They are "free" to stay as regressive as they want
Edited on Sun Nov-22-09 03:41 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
and if they want to be screwed by insurance companies and big business in general, then fine. But they should be "free" to suffer at their OWN expense- not the rest of us! Seriously, I can't wait until they all get "left behind" by an ever *gasp* "evolving" society.

12. Their idea of "freedom"
Is for human beings to be able to abuse and exploit each other in every sociopathic way. They are social Darwinists - they believe that "survival of the fittest" is the best way to structure a society and that the strong (them) will survive while the weak (others) will perish, to the benefit of all.
