1. There is an article in the WP today on it and I've heard it mentioned a couple of times over the
last week or so that he is losing weight supposedly.

I'll find the article.

Feeling the weight of war
From Fort Hood to Afghanistan, trying times for the commander in chief

By Joel Achenbach
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, November 12, 2009

War and tragedy are putting President Obama through the most wrenching period of his young administration. Visibly thinner, admittedly skipping meals, he is learning every day the challenges of a wartime presidency. Health-care reform, climate-change legislation, the broken economy -- all are cerebral exercises compared with the grim responsibility of being the commander in chief.

Two weeks ago, Obama flew to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for a surprise middle-of-the-night salute to the fallen as their bodies were unloaded from a military transport plane. He met with grieving families.

Then, last week, a gunman went on a rampage at Fort Hood, and Obama made his first trip as president to visit wounded troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Tuesday he flew to Texas to speak at the memorial service. More families. More hurt soldiers. More grief.

Wednesday the president laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns and walked the grounds at Arlington National Cemetery, talking to families who were there to visit loved ones who died in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"There are many honors and responsibilities that come with this job. But none is more profound than serving as commander in chief," Obama said in a speech in the cemetery's auditorium. He then mentioned the title of commander in chief a second time, and a third ("As long as I am commander in chief . . .").

Then he returned to the White House, to the Situation Room, for another Afghanistan war council, another session to contemplate sending more young men and women to war.

Looks fit as a fiddle as far as I can tell.

Bush looked like a shrunken prune by the end of his 8 years.

49. FWIW
I am about 6 months older than the President. Lately, I have been noticing more and more gray hairs, too. I'm sure some of it is stress. (For me, it's this damn, never-ending unemployment thing.) But, he is 48 years old, after all.

What really makes me sad is realizing that it's already the middle of November, and he's almost a year into his first term. How time flies. If only the Bush years had gone by this rapidly. They were so slow, it was like torture. The period between the 2008 election and Inauguration Day, was especially long. These past 9 months breezed by in comparison.

7. It wouldn't surprise me if he's losing weight.
It's the most stressful job in the world.

He looks thinner, but not frail.

He's probably going to age far quicker over the next few years, as well.

9. They all age. Even the chimp. That was only thing that was sad about having Obama win,
how much older he'd look in 8 years. I just hope he's well. If I had that job, I wouldn't be able to eat or sleep.

Edited on Thu Nov-12-09 05:37 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
:eyes:

Hard to believe given the carnage he helped create. :puke:

Comments like this are what compelled Vincent Bugliosi to write his book, "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder". He said that he just couldn't believe that Bush would be so "at ease" with what he did in Iraq and the fact that American men and women (and Iraqi citizens) died in the carnage.

18. Blows your mind, doesn't it?
I still can't get over the fact that 3K people perished while he was asleep at the wheel (although it took awhile for all of the embarrassing facts to come out about his inattention) and he and the Republican Party were seemingly rewarded with sky-high approval numbers and all the political capital they could ever ask for. Of course, it WAS a *fabulous* year (or at least it ended fabulously for them). :eyes:

Bush said he and Laura had a false alarm the night of 9/11 which had them running around in the WH in their jammies. It was funny said Bush. So it's nice to know he was able to laugh and sleep after everything that happened that day.

And they have a picture in it of FDR in 1932, 1936, 1940, 1944....And you should see how he aged each 4 years....When you see the picture of him in 1944, you'd think he was 105 years old....He died in 1945 I think at age 63..

23. People who are skinny tend to get skinnier when they get more focused in their work
I've noticed that people who are naturally skinny tend to get skinnier when they start getting more involved in their work. Food isnt a priority when they get more into their work. Obama might be this kind of person. It doesnt mean he is stressed out...it just might mean this is how he perfers to work.

36. The White House pastry chef, Bill Yosses, needs to called on the carpet
Obama loves pie! Banana cream pie. Huckleberry pie. Fruit pies of all sorts.

Pies need to be stashed all over the place. One, two, in the Oval office, two or three in the Map Room. Dozens laid out at the basketball court. Pies need to be everywhere. Pies will put on weight.

I like pie too, and should be appointed the official pie taster for my President.
