CNN Ad: "Seniors will not forget if you cut medicare"
Seems to me they've already forgot because if it wasn't for Democrats they wouldn't even have medicare.

1. That was around forty years ago, give or take. Two generations.
Almost three, in some areas. Of course they've forgotten - the ones that would have been grateful are dead and buried. What we have now is "what have you done for me lately?"

2. Or Social Security.
Before that plan went into effect seniors were mostly poor, if not destitute. And Repukes fought it all the way, since to them, the only good poor American is a dead poor American.

3. Good grief. They are talking Medicare Advantage, not guaranteed Medicare.
Medicare Advantage was established to show that private insurance could cost less than Medicare. Instead, it costs 14% more. That 14% will be cut, and this time, the private fat cats will have to compete.

4. People won't listen about these Advantage Plans
bush did this to give these companies more money and to get a foot hole into privatizing Medicare. And I have said over and over that is what it driving the cost of Medicare up. They are charging hospitals etc more and more for the same services that regular Medicare charges for the same services. And a lot of places won't accept them anymore. This is the bush administrations fault. Today I went to get a glucose tester and test strips and the drug store said they don't accept personal medicare anymore. You have to go directly to the provider of the service. Example one where you get medical supplies.

8. I'm not positive what this refers to
but I think that it a section of the "reform bill"
(ONLY HR676 is true reform for the people) that plans to cut
some medicare benefits in order to insure more Americans. If
that is what they are speaking of, I do have a comment. It is
such bullshit to say that we have to cut coverage for anyone,
in order to help more people. If the congress would only
investigate HR676 and allow the CBO to present the numbers on
it, they would find that ALL Americans (immigrants too) could
have good tax paid health care and it would save billions of
dollars. For a country to go from a top wealth tax of 90% to
less than 30%, while people are hungry and have no jobs or
health care, shows a country run by barbarians. Honestly, what
kind of human being could be the progenitor of the idea of
profiting off of peoples tragedies like illnesses? It is some
comfort to know that most of the world rejects this masochism,
yet in America, one of the supposed "great world
hopes", we have been reduced to profits before people in
all of our daily endeavors. Capitalism has proven itself
unhealthy and wicked for mind and soul. Yes, our Democratic
party DID do a lot of great things in times past. These things
were exported and improved upon in most other
"civilized" nations. Labor laws, social security,
medicare, etc... yet we have not made it past the yearning for
more profits, and therefore, while we have birthed great
ideas, we have purposely stunted their growth and orphaned
them. Money is the epitaph of all of them. Now, we are living
in a Fascist state. Corporations control our government,
because we can't stand together for public financing of our
elections. Our people, mostly, are still good. They want
medicare for all and most of the humane laws that have been
nurtured in other countries. They don't have the courage to
stand against money and demand compassion.

15. And when it does, I won't be as selfish as to deny health
care to others simply because I don't want the government to decrease the subsidies they pay to huge fatcat health insurance companies. Absolutely no one is advocating taking Medicare from seniors. If they're so concerned about losing any part of their Medicare, maybe they should stop to think about how the people feel who have no coverage at all.

The greatest generation is sounding alot like the "me" generation.

16. What infuriates me about Dems on tv
Edited on Sun Nov-22-09 03:40 PM by peaches2003
is that the Repug will start giving the "cutting Medicare" crap and the Dem sits there and says nothing. Why not rebut this by explaining it is Med. Advantage that will have cuts and WHY these cuts are being made. Their silence does nothing but seemingly agree that traditional Medicare is being cut. And the majority of seniors don't understand the difference and think their regular Medicare is being cut. What seniors (and I am one) are believing is beyond belief. Look at the teabaggers.

17. Cut senior benefits, force the seniors to move back in with...
their kids and let the kids pay the med. bills that are sure to follow.

Thats the way it used to be and will probably be again.

Ummm...at the moment however, seems the kids(mid 20s/mid 30s)are moving back in with mom and dad.

Make sure kiddies, that you buy a big enough place so you have room for both moms and dads.
