I NEED Some Help... Soon! My Mother-In-Law Has Been In Hospice
for about 8 months which is longer than usual. We got a call today telling us that they are going to have to release her to a Nursing Home. We took care of her for about ten years, but when her Alzheimer's became so bad we were advised to check into Hospice. THANKFULLY they took her as she can do NOTHING on her own. No talking, walking and pretty much no understanding of what is going on AT ALL! She recognizes no one and is "just there" but we have a BIG problem right now.

Her Living Will states that her home CAN NOT be sold until she passes away, so my husband and I will have to pick up the costs regarding her place. Since her place is almost 2 hours away, my husband goes up there about every 5 weeks or so and spends 10 to 14 days there. He keeps the place in order, fixes any problems and all the general things needed. So the electric, phone, house guard and phone have to stay on. It's our understanding that once she is moved OUT of Hospice she will automatically go on Medicaid and lose her Medicare which is now paying these costs through her monthly income. Medicaid means she will no longer have any income from what I understand. Her husband was a veteran and she has Tricare and I was wondering if ANYONE knows if Tricare will help us? I'm hearing it won't.

So if she loses all income, does ANYONE know of any place we can go for help. Her husband left her no life insurance and she has about $2500.00 in the bank, and that's it. It won't take long for that little chunk to go down the drain.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
