FARC accuses Uribe of trying to assassinate Chávez
In a press release issued on Monday, Iván Márquez, a member of the secretariat of the Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) blamed Colombian President Álvaro Uribe for trying to kill his counterparts Hugo Chávez of Venezuela and Rafael Correa of Ecuador.
"The true terrorist is Álvaro Uribe. He tried and keeps on trying to kill President Hugo Chávez," said Márquez in a press release posted on Monday on the website of Agencia Bolivariana de Prensa (ABP), AFP quoted.
In his statement dated last Sunday, Márquez, whose true name is Luciano Marín, claimed that for such purpose the Colombian intelligence service (DAS) infiltrated into Caracas more than one hundred paramilitaries.
Now, said Márquez, "DAS is training some groups of paid assassins to send them to Ecuador in order to kill President Rafael Correa in coordination with an Ecuadorian retired general, whose last name is Aguas."
