With Increased Us Aid, Honduras Militarises Anti-Drug Fight
With Increased Us Aid, Honduras Militarises Anti-Drug Fight
by Thelma Mejía (tegucigalpa)Friday, February 18, 2011
Inter Press Service

The United States appears to be strengthening its anti-drug strategy in Central America, whose focus in the case of Honduras will include military operations with troops from both countries, to begin in the jungle region of Mosquitia on the Atlantic coast.

Prior to last week's visit by U.S. State Department Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs William Brownfield, Lt. Gen. Glenn Spears, 12th Air Force Southern commander, was in the country, to discuss humanitarian and antinarcotics cooperation.

Colonel Ruíz Pastor Lanza, head of the Honduran Air Force, said the U.S. support in the fight against drug trafficking will involve 'more cooperation and coordination' at the level of equipment and operations.

The cooperation includes special equipment for night-flying operations for the Honduran military, IPS was told.

The assistance is being provided under the 1954 military treaty which provided for the U.S. military presence at the Palmerola Air Base in the 1980s. Palmerola, located in west-central Honduras, is the biggest U.S. base in Central America.

1. William Brownfield was very successful at brutalizing Colombia. I'm very sorry to see his...
...blood-drenched hands around Honduras' neck as well.

I think what we saw in Colombia, are seeing in Mexico, and will be seeing in Honduras and other Central American countries--wherever the corrupt, murderous, failed U.S. "war on drugs" gets a boot in--is consolidation of the drug trade in the Bush Cartel/CIA's control. These operations do NOTHING to stop the drug trade. But they are very lucrative for war profiteers and for the favored, protected drug lords--the cooperative "players" in this trillion dollar-plus illicit trade that provides a significant revenue source to our real rulers and their secret agencies and significant liquidity to their banksters. They have no intention of stopping this trade. They are merely picking off the "non-cooperators."

A second motive for the U.S. "war on drugs" is to kill leftists--to decapitate trade unions, human rights groups, community groups and other leadership of the poor majority--in preparation for U.S. "free trade for the rich." This mass murder campaign had been going on for a decade in Colombia where the political left has been decimated by it. According to Amnesty International, the Colombian military itself--funded by $7 BILLION in U.S. military aid--is responsible for about half of the murders of trade unionists in Colombia and its closely tied rightwing paramilitary death squads are responsible for the other half. It has been a Colombian government campaign to exterminate peaceful leftists under cover of the "war on drugs" and the "war on terror," overseen most recently by U.S./Bush junta ambassador William Brownfield. And it has very likely included U.S. military and U.S. military 'contractor' war crimes, under the Bush Junta (which the Obama administration has been scurrying to cover up, with Brownfield's help).

And the cocaine just keeps on coming.

The U.S. "war on drugs" is a democracy-wrecking, peace-wrecking, dreadful machine that is gathering us all up in its monstrous maw to feed the "prison-industrial complex" and the "military-industrial complex." It is out-of-control. It will eat us all alive. It is already doing so. We spend BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars on this monster, without even a dent in the drug trade. Its purpose NEVER HAS BEEN to stop the drug trade. And it has literally murdered thousands of innocent people already, and destroyed one country--Colombia--and is on its way to destroying more, including the USA.

Brownfield is one its chief operatives.

U.S. Aid to Honduras to Militarise the Consolidation of the Drug Trade and Kill Leftists
by Peace Patriot, February 18, 2011
Scorching Truth Press Service

The United States appears to be strengthening its consolidation of the drug trade and its war on Lefists in Central America, whose focus in the case of Honduras, after destroying Honduran democracy and installing a rightwing coup, which has already started killing Leftists, will include military operations with troops from both countries, to begin in the jungle region of Mosquitia on the Atlantic coast and eventually to spread its murder and mayhem everywhere.

Prior to last week's visit by the former director of death and mayhem in Colombia, U.S. State Department Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs William Brownfield, Lt. Gen. Glenn Spears, 12th Air Force Southern commander, was in the country, representing U.S. war profiteers, to discuss how humanitarian and antinarcotics cooperation can be used as cover for these murder and mayhem operations.

Colonel Ruíz Pastor Lanza, head of the Honduran Air Force, and torture-trained by the Pentagon's "School of the Americas, said the U.S. support in the fight to consolidate the drug trade and kill Leftists will involve 'more cooperation and coordination' at the level of equipment and operations.

The cooperation includes special equipment for night-flying operations for the Honduran military that have other uses as well, including spying on the Leftist democracies of Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala and Venezuela, for future infiltration by U.S. funded death squads, as Honduras was used for during the Reagan reign of terror in Central America, Scorching Truth Free Press was told.

The assistance is being provided under the 1954 military treaty which provided for the U.S. military presence at the Palmerola Air Base in the 1980s. Palmerola, located in west-central Honduras, is the biggest U.S. base in Central America. This U.S. military base was also the fuel stop for the plane carrying the elected president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, out of the country at gunpoint, in 2009. Zelaya wanted to convert the base to peaceful, commercial air traffic, which was one of the reasons the U.S. assisted his overthrow and gave the go-ahead for the coupsters and their hired thugs to start murdering his supporters. "What a bright sunny morning in Honduras!" Ronald Reagan told Scorching Truth Free Press from his elaborate grave. "They're slaughtering the Leftists again! It's a win-win for everybody!"

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did not answer calls from Scorching Truth Free Press but a spokesman for the U.S. State Killing Democracy Department said that the Secretary was "delighted" with the outcome of Honduras' U.S.-rigged election and that "it's always a bright sunny day for America when the rightwing gains the upper hand, by whatever means."

The spokesman, who asked to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to speak the truth, also said that, "The killing of Leftists is not our specific responsibility. I mean, we don't let Brownfield actually put his hands around the necks of trade unionists and these other communists or hold them under water or take a hatchet to them and throw their body parts into mass graves, or behead them, or anything. We let others do that. We rig elections and funnel millions of dollars to rightwing groups and provide cover. Please don't mix us up with the actual killers, or their trainers and equippers over at the Pentagon. That's a whole nother scene. We like to keep these functions separate and distinct, just in case the World Court ever catches up with this, or--heaven forbid!--Hondurans manage to get their country back. And, no, you may not quote me. This is off the record. Keep my name out of it or you'll get me fired--and there ain't nobody else around here who'll talk to the Scorching Truth Free Press. I mean, ha-ha, good luck! We never never had this conversation. Good-bye."
