Search team finds missing Colombia-bound helicopter

Troops from a mountain battalion of the Army of Colombia have found the missing helicopter that left Panama last Saturday and went off the radar before arriving at its destination in Colombia. The helicopter was found destroyed and with no survivors atop a mountain in the town of Trujillo, located in the Southwest region of the country. The deceased passengers were three passengers of Mexican nationality and a pilot of Colombian nationality.

The aircraft, a Bell 412 model that was traveling between Panama and Peru, disappeared last Saturday about 20 miles west of the city of Tulua, in El Valle del Cauca.

The troops arrived at the scene by land, as the search mission could not be carried out by air due to bad weather conditions in the region.

According to sources from the Civil Aeronautics entity, which received military reports, the unit crashed in a mountainous jungle area with difficult access by road.
