Venezuela's new wave of social projects
Venezuela's new wave of social projects
Sun Sep 26, 2010 1:00am EDT

Sept 26 (Reuters) - Venezuelans vote in a parliamentary
election on Sunday where President Hugo Chavez is expected to
keep control of the National Assembly in a poll that will test
his support ahead of a presidential ballot in 2012.

The 56-year-old leader has reinforced his state-sponsored
health and nutrition programs with new ones meant to distribute
low-cost cars and sell household electronic goods like washing
machines and televisions at a discount.

One program even helps low-income people see the country's
natural wonders through subsidized tourism.

Sunday's vote is seen as a precursor to a 2012 presidential
election, when Chavez is expected to seek another term to
extend his "Bolivarian revolution" in the OPEC member country.

1. Heinz Dieterich criticized Chavez for this
Dieterich says the Chavez government is using money to buy votes, creating serious dependency and a "client class", and not working to build the economy. This is causing the economy to decay, with inflation and at the same time the GDP falling. Because oil income, which is what Chavez uses to provide these gifts for votes, also becoming lower, the end will be a serious collapse, because the people who are used to receiving these gifts for their votes will not see the same behavior in the future, when the government gradually uses the money and oil production continues to fall. This is technique used to hold power, very irresponsible, because it drives the country into debt. It is also not a good idea to encourage the higher consumption of electricity in a country with a poor electricity supply situation.

3. Absolutely, do suggest running Heinz Dieterich against Hugo Chavez, as Peace Patriot suggested.
I don't think there are so many people who are going to stand in line to vote for yet another right-wing elitist, anal bag of hot air.

I trust the voters of Venezuela to know for whom they place a vote, and why. Apparently democracy isn't appropriate for the parasites who use the voters for cheap labor, and also the source of their revenue for their products. Could they be more worthless?

Having derived benefit from the labor of the majority, having derived benefit from their wages which they spend to buy the products of the oligarchs, they still insist upon trying to control their thoughts, and their lives themselves. Gotta have TOTAL control, and live off the workers like giant maggots.

Our own stinking Republicans accuse the Democrats of the same things of which you struggle to accuse Hugo Chavez.

Who the HELL on a Democratic message board to you presume is going to support these ancient, parasitic, pathetic rightist views?
