Misleading post about Chavez "violating the Constitution" re upcoming legislative elections
naaman fletcher posted an article from VHeadlines, written by an entity called "VenEconomy" which quotes a rightwing opposition member of the National Electoral Council ragging on Hugo Chavez about violations of the election code. The article states that, "It has become standard procedure for the Hugo Chavez administration to violate the Constitution and the laws of the Republic."

naaman fletcher's post does not include this wild--exaggerated, unfactual, unsupported--allegation that appears in the first paragraph of the article. Nor does naaman fletcher include the response of the PRESIDENT of the National Electoral Council, who says that Diaz's "off the cuff" remarks were not presented to the Council for discussion, and undermine the purpose of the Council, which is non-partisan administration of elections--an article that also appears at the VHeadline site. Diaz, in other words, has committed the very violation that he accuses Chavez of--he uses his position on the National Electoral Council to engage in electoral politics. naaman fletcher does not include this information in his/her post.

I discuss these two articles--with quotes from the article that naaman fletcher did not include--as a comment to naaman fletcher's OP, here:

1. Thank you. Coming back later to study this. Really appreciate giving this the treatment
it deserves.

Very, very interesting.

2. Two things, one question:
1. The reason I did not include all quotes is that I obey the rules and only post excerpts.
2. You should consider writing to that opposition paper to ask them to stop printing such wild stories.

3. Is it true that Chavez is on the airwaves discussing politics?

3. Peace Patriot's post is a lot more misleading than naaman's
You make the unsupported and unfactual allegation that V. Diaz is a member of the rightwing opposition. That's a false allegation.

President Chavez has violated the constitution in every non presidential electoral campaign since he's not allowed to take part and he irremediably does. It's no secret, the rule is simple: no participation. And he constantly participates in the electoral meetings as one can see the videos in youtube. Now, it surely isn't the worst possible violation... but still, "it has become standard procedure... to violate the Constitution".
