Report: Cooks investigated over Bolivian president's illness

at the government palace and the residence of Bolivian President Evo Morales were being investigated after he suffered a stomach upset last week, Bolivian media reported Wednesday.

Morales hinted Monday that he had his suspicions about a strange stomach problem that required him to receive emergency treatment in hospital and kept him away from his duties for four days last week.

Presidential spokesman Oscar Coca said a bacteria had caused the illness.

Bolivian daily La Prensa reported Wednesday, citing government sources, that the bacteria could only have come through a poor preparation of Morales' food

'I have now been fixed: I'm good as new, like a 15-year-old,' Morales said.

He said this was the first time he had suffered such a prolonged stomach upset.

'Something strange happened this time,' he added.
