OAS not to intervene in Venezuela's ban on Chilean electoral observers
OAS not to intervene in Venezuela's ban on Chilean electoral observers
CARACAS, Monday July 19, 2010

The OAS secretary general said that the international organization cannot act against Venezuela’s decision to ban Chilean Senators from participating as observers in an impending parliamentarian vote

Politics
The Organization of American States "can not intervene" in Caracas' decision to ban Chilean senators as electoral observers in the polls to be held in Venezuela on September 26, said OAS Secretary General José Miguel Insulza.

"We cannot intervene. If the (Chilean) Ministry of Foreign Affairs asks so, their request will be discussed in the Permanent Council, which will decide whether it applies or not. However, according to current regulations, we cannot impose that on anybody," Insulza said in an interview with Chilean newspaper La Tercera.

According to Insulza, invitations to foreign electoral observers are "a prerogative of each country. I am not aware of any international regulation that allows a country to visit another country" to monitor elections.

Additionally, as regards the OAS, Insulza said that before visiting a country as an electoral observer, the organization has to sign a previous agreement with the convening State, which Venezuela never requested, AFP reported.

1. Ha! HA! Rightwing dirtbags.
I think somebody ought to do some electoral observation in Chile, where the vast majority of people are poor to dirt-poor, yet somehow elected a billionaire rightwinger as president--despite an 80% approval rating (!) for the termed out Leftist.

Have they gotten Diebolded yet? It certainly makes you wonder.

I also see a bad trend here. Witness Honduras, where Hillary arranged for John McCain's "International Republican Institute" (supported by your tax dollars and mine), among other toxic organizations, to rubberstamp the (s)election of a rightwing coup supporter as pResident, under martial law conditions. Are these Chilean corpo-fascists following a script written in Washington DC? ('Slander the election of Leftists where you can't just remove them from the country at gunpoint.')

The one thing that the rightwing coupmongers in Venezuela and their U.S. State Department paymasters could never plausibly allege is that Hugo Chavez was not elected and re-elected, by big majorities, in fair, aboveboard, transparent elections. The Carter Center, the OAS and EU election monitoring groups said otherwise, and the plain facts of Venezuela's election system say otherwise. And this amazing Leftist sweep of elections that occurred over the last decade throughout Latin America (in Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala--plus an almost in Mexico) must aggravate our corpo-fascist rulers and war profiteers no end. How to stop it? How to sully it? How to restore fascists to power? How to bring back the "ancien regime" where Leftists are thrown out of airplanes or their body parts slung into mass graves after they are butchered alive; where Leftists don't live long enough to get to be president!; where U.S. based multinationals can reap billions from slave labor and other peoples' resources. How to turn Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala into Colombia?

Can't do it one way, do it another. Slander, destabilize, topple. That is the "Big Lie" agenda of U.S. operatives in every Latin American country.

The Chavez government has invited every LEGITIMATE election monitoring group on earth to crawl all over Venezuela before, during and after elections, and, indeed, invited their help (as is their usual MO) long before elections occur, to set up an honest, transparent, "best practices" election system that all stakeholders--including the rightwing opposition--agreed to. It is THIS that the Jim DeMints of Chile are trying to slander: an HONEST system, that results in REAL representation of the interests of the MAJORITY.

Sneaky, slimy, dirty rotten tactics--paid for by you and me, we can be sure.

2. The elections conducted after Hugo Chavez was elected have probably been the most heavily monitored
elections on earth years ago. They've gotten absolutely clean ratings by everyone.

When the Chilean leftover Pinochet social maggots decide it's high time THEY do some oversight, you know they already have a plan in mind concerning what their "findings" will be. They're the same people who endorse total suppression of the left, even if it means killing them all go get it. They already had their era, made longer because their campaign of murder, torture, mind-boggling work by professional sadists, like master torturer Osvaldo Romo, international hit teams chasing down leftists in other countries and murdering them and everyone around them, created a climate of such deep fear open dissent disappeared completely for years, and by god, there was so MUCH to cause dissent.

I'm afraid some of us are having to confront some very painful truths about our own government in becoming aware we supported these absolute monsters.
