Bolivia announces opening of embassy in South Korea
Bolivia announces opening of embassy in South Korea
09:03, June 02, 2010

The Bolivian government announced on Tuesday that it will soon open an embassy in South Korea.

Bolivian President Evo Morales said that Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca will send an ambassador to South Korea in a few days.

According to Morales, the main task of the Bolivian diplomats is to facilitate trade between Bolivia and South Korea.

Trade between Bolivia and South Korea stands at more than 800 million U.S. dollars per year. South Korea is the second most important Asian export market for Bolivia.

In September 2009 South Korea appointed again an ambassador to La Paz, 11 years after its embassy in the Bolivian capital was closed due to an economic crisis.
