Venezuelan Social Investment Exceeded $330 Billion
Caracas, Mar 9 (Prensa Latina) The Hugo Chavez administration has invested during its 11 years in power $330 billion dollars in social programs, more than 60 percent of the overall income during that period, said today the president of the National Institute of Statistics Elias Eljuri .

According to the official, governmental policies have reduced poverty and extreme poverty, unemployment and wealth unequal distribution, while ensuring health and food for the vast majority of citizens.

Not even with the economic downturn of 2009 (decline of 3.2 percent) the executive failed to put human beings at the center of his policies, Eljuri told the media.

For the official, the reduction of poverty stands out among the achievements of the period.

Wild horses will never drag any of this information from their right-winger ass-kissing mouths.

Screw'em! We can go get the news ourselves!

Thanks for posting it here, dipsydoodle. Way to go. :toast:

2. I call BS on this "trickle-up" economics.
I'll bet this kind of program NEVER lifts the yachts of the oligarchs.

3. it's not properly classified as investment
Unfortunately, most of that money isn't properly classified as investment, since it's money spent which doesn't leave much of a tangible asset behind. It is best classified as rent distribution. This is the reason why hospitals, jails, the electric power system, and oil production facilities have not improved. Also, too much money has been spent giving aid to Cuba, which needs to learn to stand on its own feet, rather than living off money from the Soviet Union, or now from Venezuela.
