1. “Everyone who has committed a crime should pay”--Robert Mitcheletti, junta leader.
At least a hundred people have been murdered in Honduras for expressing their political views. Thousands have been beaten up, unjustly arrested and imprisoned, raped, tortured. Human and civil rights do not exist in Honduras. And this is the front man for it all.

So I think he might want to be more careful of karmic statements like this one.

2. Goriletti yesterday asked for forgiveness

Don't know if this has appeared in English-language media but saw it yesterday on CholusatSur.

Goriletti, after having proclaimed that would go on "vacation" from the presidency for one week, at the time promised that he would abastain from all public functions. He lied.

Yesterday he appeared at a ceremony at the main basilica in Teguz, where he took the pulpit to rant about Honduran democracy and the elections.

But he also sent one of the presidenatial candidate to hell -- in a roundabout way. He said four of the five candidates believed in God, but one did not. He was speaking of César Han, who is known in Honduras as the "Three-in-one" because of his Chinese, African and Indian ancestery.

Then goriletti dropped a surprise, he asked, from the pulpit, for forgiveness from the Honduran people. In the same sentence, he "exigio" (demanded) forgiveness for "us" from the people.

That indicates that he is a total brute, because in the Spanish-speaking world one can forgive someone, but cannot "demand" that that same someone forgive you.

-------------

Speaking of CholusatSur, yesterday it went back partically over cable, but the Internet signal was still out.
Esdras, the owner and main anchor, said the microwave signals had been pirated and that for 72 hours, western movies (I saw Bonanza) and pronographic movies (from a porno company named "Premiun," had been shown on CholusatSur's frequency.

Esdras said that the electronic equipment used to interfere with the signal had been detected by CONATEL -- the Honduran communications company, in a downtown building but that there had been no arrests.

Esdras warned that the lives of his staff and his own were in danger and that he could not guarantee that the station would be on the air later this week and during the elections.

4. Check out CholusatSur live right now

Esdras Amador is on a rant against Micheletti.

It is scary because Esdras is putting his life more in danger.

5. Another teacher assassinated today

Teacher named Espinal was intercepted by men on a motorcycle and wearing police uniforms. Espinal was beaten, taken away in a vehicle and was found hours later shot to death. He had been active in the reistance. A woman who was in the car with him was not harmed.

Andres Pavon today denounced that the golpistas have a plan to sow fear with "selective" assassinations of human rights activists, lawyers and journalists.

7. They really have developed an appetite for bringing suffering to teachers.
Looks as if that filthy evil streak remains within the oligarchs, and was never really absent.

No doubt Pavon will be proven correct. Ruling by fear. That fear won't last forever, and they don't seem to comprehend. They WILL reap what they have sewn in ways they never dreamed.

Very sad news, rabs.

Thank you for sharing this information. It means so much to know about this.

6. ChosatSur goes off the air

Esdras just announced Ch-36 will NOT broadcast any longer in protest to the harassment the station has suffered under the golpista regime.

He said it was not out of cowardice, but out of principal. That history will judge the golpistas for its assault on freedom of the press in Honduras.

It now has an advisory on its Internet site

http://www.cholusatsur.com/

Esdras did not say how long the station would cease to broadcast.

(This is bad because most of Honduras gets its news from Ch-36d and Globo. At least Globo is still on the air.)
