MANAGUA (AFP) – The US ambassador to Nicaragua said on Sunday he plans to stay put in the Central American nation despite violent protests demanding that he go home for allegedly meddling in domestic politics.

"I am staying here to work as US ambassador (as) we have a strong and constant commitment to the Nicaraguan people," Ambassador Robert Callahan told local media.

"My main job is maintaining good relations with Nicaragua and I will do everything in my power to do so," he added.

Thousands of Nicaraguans pelted the US embassy with rocks and home-made explosives last week, demanding the ambassador be expelled for criticizing a ruling allowing leftist President Daniel Ortega to seek re-election indefinitely.

Ortega's administration issued a statement calling Callahan's comments an "inadmissible" interference in Nicaragua's internal affairs, but stopped short of asking for his removal.

1. So this asshole is setting himself up against the people of Nicaragua.
I hope he gets his best part handed to him. It's about time.

2. He and all these other Bushwhack plotters in Latin America need to be recalled!
Obama needs to make clear that he does not approve of these fascist operatives. He needs to get them all out of there, pronto. He can do diplomacy with lesser officials--of his own choosing--if the Pukes in Congress keep obstructing his appointments.

Really, they are up to no good. And, in fact, they are actively plotting against Obama's stated policy of peace, respect and cooperation, and are going to cause him--and Latin America--a whole of trouble, up to an including instigating war. The Bushwhacks have already rehearsed scenarios for doing that--the US/Colombia bombing/raid on Ecuador last March (2008), the Bushwhack-instigated white separatist civil war plot in Bolivia last September, and Bushwhack psyops of various kinds, as well as this provocative Pentagon (probably Rumsfeld) deal of establishing new US military bases in Colombia. Honduras is just one example of how much trouble and horror they can organize and provoke. If Obama is sincere on a peaceful policy--and I really don't know if he is, but I'm hoping he is--he needs to act on it now, if he wants anyone in Latin America to believe him, and if he doesn't want to be mired in another Honduras--that is, another trap set up by the Bushwhacks, with the collusion of traitors in the US government, in which Obama is suspected of collusion, even if he not guilty of it.
