Chavez: Honduran Coupists will Fail
Escrito por ivette

29 de junio de 2009, 09:34Imagen activaManagua, Jun 29 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez warned on Monday that in coming hours, some actors could try to abate the situation in Honduras.

When addressing the emergency summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) for second time, Chavez called to watch those who condemn the Honduran coupists and then applaud their action surreptitiously.

Some people may well resort to international organizations to look for negotiations and abate the situation, as it happened in Haiti with President Jean Bertrand Aristide, Chavez indicated.

Regarding that, he referred to the last reflection by Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro entitled A Suicidal Mistake, and supported his statements that there is no possible negotiation with the putschits.

The Venezuelan president also denied that Venezuelan and Nicaraguan forces are invading Honduras, and reiterate signs of solidarity and support for that people.

Chavez said he is sure the coupists will suffer a similar fate than those who tried to overthrow him in Venezuela.

In addition, he called upon the governments in the continent and the world to teach an unforgettable lesson to the Honduran bourgeoisie, and warned the peoples will not allow a return to the past.

The meeting is attended by Presidents Chavez, Daniel Ortega, Nicaragua, Manuel Zelaya, Honduras, Rafael Correa, Ecuador, and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez."

1. USA needs to take sides and end funding

Hugo is indicating that the USA might be double faced on this one.

Why would the coupsters (is coupist correct?) negotiate when they
have the city locked down? Only if the USA ends all financial
support.

Is anyone organizing a phone campaign to urge Clinton to do just that?
These swift moving events make it hard to analyze the role of the US.

2. Is it possible this whole coup is about testing Chavez' resolve?
just a thought that occurred to me.
