Ecuador cabinet members resign to allow reshuffle after elections

QUITO, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Ecuador's cabinet members announced their resignation on Wednesday, a procedure which allows reelected President Rafael Correa to redesign his ruling team.

Ecuador's National Electoral Council said Sunday that incumbent President Correa won the April 26 presidential election with 51.8 percent of the vote.

The resignations, handed in on Monday, were officially made public on Wednesday, Ecuadorian Interior Minister Gustavo Jalkh told reporters.

According to Ecuadorian Defense Minister Javier Ponce, all the ,ministers left their posts and Correa will reshuffle their posts in the coming days.
