What a day.
I'm tired, but so glad I was able to help the campaign in a small way.

Many of you know I'm in a "mixed" marriage (e.g. married to a republican), so it's difficult for me to find *active* ways to work for the campaign without creating tension here at home. Phone banking, canvassing....really isn't an option for me.

But today, while I was out grocery shopping, I picked up some fruit, chips, drinks, cake and PIE, and also stopped by Subway and ordered some foot-long subs for the volunteers working at my local Obama/Biden HQ. I dropped them off en route to my other errands.

I figured it was the least I could do. I was already at the store, and everybody's gotta eat, right?

Everyone's working so hard, and I wanted to do something tangible to express my support and thanks.

Now, if you'll excuse me, my republican husband shares Hillary Clinton's birthday tomorrow, and I have a cake to bake. :-)

Edited on Sat Oct-25-08 10:03 PM by DesertedRose
The timer just went off :-)

I'll let it cool overnight

The cake is from a mix, but the frosting is from scratch :9

3. good for you! I love your sig line
I totally remember that from Sesame Street or whatever old PBS kids' show it was on.

I remembered! I remembered!

I feel bad because an Obama campaign volunteer called tonight and I couldn't commit to doing anything down in PA next weekend. I injured my ankle so I'm not supposed to walk any more than necessary, and I'm terrible on the phone. Maybe I can just make another donation :(

4. Oh my daughter still remembers that
Sesame Street line too! It comes up more often than one would expect. Her all time favorite is "What would happen if I popped this balloon?"

My favorite is from Electric Company, "Who is it?" "I've come to fix the sink!"

8. Before bed the other night, I said to my husband,
"How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop?"

He laughed and said "Three."

I finished the rest: "One. Two-HOOOOO! Three! *CRUNCH!* Three."

I've introduced classic Sesame Street to my 3 year old and now HE's the one saying "now don't forget, mommy....a loaf of bread, a container of milk, and a stick of buttah"

9. Some things stay with you forever
Any time someone says, "Who is it?", my first impulse is to say, "its the plumber. I've come to fix the sink."

If anyone says "a loaf of bread" or "a stick of butter", my daughter will regress to her Sesame Street days instantly.

There's another one from Electric Company about a guy in a restaurant ordering "a sweet roll and a cup of coffee", "We're out of sweet rolls", "Okay, I'll take a sweet roll and an orange juice". And of course it goes on and on until the waitress loses it.
