He's No Gaffe Machine, I'm Tired of Hearing That

This is so frustrating to listen to the media say this. They tend to blow things out of proportion.

There was nothing wrong with the comments he made about Obama(clean, artuculate.....) He meant no offense with that and the press knew this.

I wish they would stop saying he's a gaffe machine.

5. I've asked DUers who say things like "he's constantly committing gaffes"

to name them. Name this big long list - and it must be HUGE if he's been "constantly committing gaffes" for over 30 years. I never received a response.

6. That's what drives me crazy

People are just parroting what the media tells them.

I'm also getting tired of the media being concerned about how he will treat Sarah at the VP debate. He is not a mean person. I am old enough to remember the Clarence Thomas hearings. I watched when he questioned Anita Hill. It was such a sensitive subject but he was very kind to her. The one thing I'll always remember is that he kept smiling at her and tried to make her feel comfortable.

So many DUers HATED Biden because he was SO MEAN to Anita Hill -- I kid you not. I looked everywhere for footage but couldn't find any, because I wanted to see for myself.

What they were accusing Biden of just didn't sound like Biden! Sheesh! And they totally discounted the fact that Joe voted against Thomas! Thanks for this!

8. No way was he mean to her

Not at all. I still remember how much he smiled at her when he addressed her and was very deferential. That's one of the things that drew me to him and I have liked him ever since. This was a very touchy subject for the Judicial committee to even address. There was testimony about comments like pubic hair on a coke can and pornography. He had to question Anita Hill about why she followed him to another job after being sexually harassed by Thomas.

I do feel that he was incorrect in not allowing testimony from other women but I realize this was an unprecedented event.
