You know.....
I gotta say it...I know there are some people on here that like JE, and think he has an attractive message, but I don't buy it. What do you suppose the JE supporters would say, if by some chance he managed to win the nominee, and the WH, and did nothing he said he would do? What would they say then? Will his promises be empty?

I have to say it, but I don't think he is going to do ANYTHING. I think this has all been about winning this election and nothing more. That worries me, because I feel he is being careless with this country, for his own selfish reasons, and there are a lot of people buying it.

I'm not just trying to slam him, but I am truly concerned about this. My biggest concern is that he will screw up Iraq soo bad, that in 6 months, we'll be back in there. There is no way any international community is going to go in when we leave. no political solution, other than a few thousand troops, which will no doubt have to be replenished over and over again.

I don't know......and if he did succeed, I still see him as being a 1 term president.

Thoughts?

1. Corona,
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 01:47 AM by The Village Idiot
it's funny you just posted this. I just had an epiphany and was going to post to you when I read this. How do we really explain the "popularity" of the "top tier" amongst the electorate? You are absolutely right. They can't handle the truth. They are so milk fed on empty promises and hot air that they're sure they'll starve with real food on the plate. They eat cardboard, drink corn syrup and shit foul gas. I suddenly see the American electorate as skeletal remains of a once proud nation. Goddess, I hate it when I have a glimpse of the way things really are. It's horrific.

On Edit: By the way, I think you and I share views on JE. I got put on ignore by Mr. Sellitman a day or two ago for agreeing with you that I might not support JE if he is the Dem nominee. Sellitman went psycho on me in a PM and then turned me off so I couldn't respond. I visited his website and have concluded he's a certifiable orange dot (i.e., nutcase).

I don't trust JE as far as I can drop a turd. Gimme a break. A person would have to be a fool to not see that he is one. This is what boggles my mind. How dumb can people be? Are they all drugged?

I've served on my village's planning commission for going on 15 years, and I'm good friends with our village counsel. Once, when I was bemoaning the election results for our City Council (city pop. 870 anarchists), he reminded me of a simple truth. "Yodananda," he said, "you just can't make the people of Oakland any smarter." "Well," I said, "how can I keep them from getting any dumber?" He shook his head is all.

Thanks for hearing me vent. JE would be an utter DISASTER as POTUS. Goddess help us. He's a shrub in blue clothing.

2. I know what you're saying
and if he is sincere, I can't see how he could get any of it done. A president needs support in congress to accomplish anything and I don't think he has that kind of support.

A great message just isn't enough.

3. You know what I was thinking?
If he got elected, it would be long time before another Democrat got elected to POTUS.

I just found out today that he still has money invested in Fortress Funds. I am shocked, saddened and disgusted.
and he makes no apologies for it! Fortress funds stands for everything he speaks out against on the campaign trail.

I don't think I could vote for him if he became the nominee.

5. I Agree Corona
By the way...I'm having a Corona right now....

Too many promises that fall outside the realm of reality. He claims to want to change Washington...to "fight." Sometimes it is better to bring people together than it is to fight them at every turn.

Just my two cents...
=P

8. Steely,
its ALWAYS better to bring people together than to fight. That's why I supported General Clark for so long, and it appears to me that Senator Biden has the same instincts.

7. Back in the day when I used to date (many, many days ago) I used
to meet the "John Edwards" types. Handsome, smooth, answer for everything, etc. My dad came by Farleigh to pick me up and one of the JE types was standing waiting with me to be picked up so I introduced him to my JE type. My dad had been a law student at Rutgers (back then it was the law school for poor guys)and my JE was trying to impress. I stood there with my mouth agape, this was not the same guy I knew. Got into the car and my dad was smiling and shaking his head. I asked what was funny..."I hope to God dear girl you're not dating that dressed up schmuck with the two sides of his mouth." I was shocked but realized of course, he was right. JE will tell you what you want to hear, the truth be damned.. He would be a disaster, and to be honest, I can only take Elizabeth in small doses...Today is our day, Joe is going to do third, I'm sure of it. He's under the radar, pollsters are not to be trusted, and the DesMoines Register will look like fools.

10. As much as I like what he "says" he's going to do
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 07:37 AM by NI4NI
about Big Business rule, he's not going to be successful with getting very much done about it, if anything at all. Can you say "republican roadblock".
Hell, even a few Dems aren't going to bite the hands that feed them.

Other than writing Senate legislation to get 4 U.S. Postal Offices named, he doesn't have the political skill to solve any of today's serious problems, presently, and is unable (inept) to foresee and handle any more upcoming trouble around the coner.

If elected, kiss the WH good bye in 2012, and for years beyond.

12. Agree
with you and all the other comments above. I profoundly distrust JE. The only one among the "top 3" that I would not feel unhappy about is Obama. I would feel apprehensive because, spin or not, his lack of experience IS glaring (not more so than JE's by the way), but also exhilarated, there is a lot of promise there, so I would enjoy the glow and keep my fingers tightly crossed hoping that it will work out. Anyway... lots of finger crossing today, and not for Obama :-).

14. I don't trust him either. And
I used to really admire Elizabeth, but I can't take much of her either.

I can not understand why this country does not realize that this election may well be about our survival as a nation. Everything else is secondary to our security. Joe is the only one who is
experienced and honest enough to do the job at hand.

16. I'm not very fond of JE.
That may be the mildest way of putting it.

I feel like he will say whatever it takes to garner him the most votes. If I had to compare him to someone on the other side, it would be Romney.

17. thoughts:
You asked for them.

I don't understand why you "gotta say it"

I don't understand the point of posting this.

Joe Biden is my first choice, and for good reason. If he does not get the nod, it would be my fervent hope that whoever does would continue the "I agree with Joe" mantra and follow his guidance. If Edwards had to "solve" Iraq on his own, with no advisors, using only his own experience and instincts as guide, I agree with you that I'd be nervous as hell. But I'd be the same with any of the other candidates. And, frankly, I'd be a lot MORE nervous with the other two of the "top three."

That's all the time I have for thinking about negativity; the rest of the day has to be focused on good vibes for Joe.

talking about how wonderful John is, when all he has ever accomplished was naming 2 post offices.

Enough said.

19. I see all of the top three as being a one term prez,
and setting the US up for another 8 years of repuke rule come '12. :banghead:

Clinton & Obama will have an easier time getting others to work with them, including republicans, but it will not be to the advantage of We the People! Assuming he stays true to his populist message, Edwards will have a hard time getting even the dems to work with him. And if he doesn't stay true to message, what the fuck good is he?

Biden is our only hope. OUR ONLY HOPE.

I am on pins & needles today, in spite of the fact I have a million things to do at my old job as this is my last day there. Arghh!!!

Hey Pirhana, remember those two bottles of champagne I have in the fridge? I suspect one will be popped as soon as I get home this evening! ;)

22. I thought Edwards was the best choice in 2004....
but, I haven't supported him this year.

All three of the front-runners are entirely too slick and marketed. I don't really know what any of them are about, except that I'm pretty sure they will all support the corporate status-quo.

I wouldn't trust Richardson as far as I could throw him, based on the fact that he refused to allow a recount in NM. Not to mention that he has his own big corporate connections and has worked for Kissinger and Associates.

Joe Biden is a Mensch. I'm desperate to have a real, competent, experienced, stable and dedicated Democrat in the White House.

why that man (?) will never get my goat.

This hour he is going after CEO's.

He will say Anything to win.

Even if he is the nominee - he will not get my vote.
