Congresswomen Speak Out Against Bush's Proposed Abortion Rule Change

"Women lawmakers responded Thursday to President Bush's proposed rule change to Health and Human Services (HHS) regulations. The proposal redefines abortion to include several types of birth control, including the pill, emergency contraception and IUDs, according to Reuters. The rule change would deny federal funding to medical providers who hire doctors or nurses that do not object to abortion"

Link of the letter embedded in the story, just because Patty Murray is my Senator and one of the very few politicians I actually admire.

1. I applaud the Congresswomen....
...and forgive me for saying so, but I saw this on the horizon years ago---right before the pharmacist's started denying women bcp based on their personal "moral beliefs." :eyes: I am so thankful that we have senators like Pat Murray, Hilary Clinton and (though she isn't mentioned here) Barbara Boxer.

I just get so furious that so many women (on the right and left) don't get this--that choice encompasses so much more than whether a woman can "have an abortion." It seems as long as they can stay focused on the abortion issue for "morality reasons" they can turn a blind eye to everything else. :grr::mad:
