I know I'm late to post this because I've been out today
I was enjoying a nice Memorial Day, hanging out with friends and family and enjoying the sunny and warm day we spent outside in the water. Now I've come online to see all of this news about Cindy Sheehan. I certainly hope that I am not the only one to send emails and comments of encouragement(and apology for the fellow DU'ers she mentioned) to Cindy. She put the anti-iraq war movement on the map, and for anyone to call her an "attention whore" is shameful. I've met Cindy and am glad to call her a friend. She has inspired me in many ways and reading this news just saddens me.

I encourage everyone here to send Cindy comments of encouragement - especially as DU'ers. She needs to know that she is supported and that we still DO want to end this war. It's not about party lines, it's not about political views, it's about peace and ending this disastrous war based on lies.

9. K&R - it seems as if I've missed something too!
Exactly WHO called her an attention whore? They should be ashamed of themselves.

12. Thanks, Ava - some people just don't seem to get it yet
Cindy's human like the rest of us. She has faults and insecurities, too. I've observed her up close and personal at times where it seemed like she just seemed to need people. Some may take that as a sign of weakness, but I interpret it as a manifestation of her coming to terms with her grief and sense of loss.

But Cindy stood up at a time when just about everyone else was sitting down. She confronted Herr Decider in his adopted hometown and faced tremendous adversity as a result. Her simple act of courage galvanized the then-impotent antiwar movement in America. And for that, I wholeheartedly thank her.
