Bush's power grab
Right-wingers don't trust the bastard, either

worldnetdaily.com

Excerpt:
President Bush, without so much as issuing a press statement, on May 9 signed a directive that granted
near dictatorial powers to the president in the event of a national emergency declared by the president.
Directive NSPD-51 and HSPD-20 establishes under a new National Continuity Coordinator.

Undert this directive, if Bush determines a catastrophic emergency has occurred, he can take over all
government functions and direct all private sector activities to ensure we will emerge from the emergency
with an "enduring constitutional government."

Iin layman's terms, if Bush determines a national emergency has occurred, he becomes our dictators
so he can direct any and all government and business activities until he declares the emergency is over.

NSPD-51/ HSPD-20 makes no reference whatsoever to Congress, sufggesting that the powers
of the executive order can be implemented without any congressional approval or oversight.

So, a few days before the '08 election, if a bomb goes off, say, in New York,
Bush will legally become Dictator Bush until he decides he no longer wants to
be Dictator Bush, which would be never. It's a damn dangerous possibility.

Shit like this just fuels those 9-11 rumors.
Bush would have to obey the law - if not for 9-11.
Bush would have to obey the Constitution - if not for 9-11.
Bush would have to enforce the Bill of Rights - if not for 9-11.
Bush couldn't steal $200M a day in Iraq - if not for 9-11
9-11 was the greatest day of Bush's life.

Bush wants absolute power for life - that's why he's not worried about his 28% approval.

2. Boy nice of them to join the party
Outside of Joe Sobran or James Brovard, many of them were cheering Bushevism, even some gun owners I knew did not have a problem with the First, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Amendments being gutted, because we are war with terrorism. But then again they thought they were free because "our" side was in charge. Welcome to the Haliburton Gulags Comrades.
