Chavez invites 25 homeless families to stay at his presidential palace..
This would NEVER happen here...

CARACAS | Mon Nov 29, 2010 10:32am EST

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuelan socialist leader Hugo Chavez has invited 25 families made homeless by recent torrential rains to stay temporarily at the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas.

More than a dozen people have died and thousands have been forced from their houses after weeks of downpours in Venezuela that have caused flooding and mudslides.

Following their president's lead, National Assembly officials said space in parliament could also be temporarily used as a refuge for victims of the rains chaos.
Supporters praise Chavez as the first leader in Venezuela to care for the poor.

1. That is a class act. How fast would any our presidents (D or R) would throw open the
White House to just 10 families or 5 families or even 1 family?

2. ... not just presidents, how many congresscritters?
Most of them have gynormous houses/estates, surely they all can spare 3 or 4 rooms?

Or what about our gazillionaires (corporate, media and athletic)? Estates with multiple buildings, or multiple homes in several locations? Sigh. :(
