Do not rest this weekend.
If we want to stop this pathetic excuse for a deal on the tax cuts, we cannot rest this weekend. I know many of you put forth great amounts of effort and work on this, contacting the White House, and more importantly contacting your Congresspeople.

But we can't afford to let up now. As the great Bernie Sanders mentioned yesterday, we can change this, we just have to show our leaders in Congress how important it is to us to get a better deal.

If you have contacted your reps, great, contact them again. If you haven't, now is the time. And once you are done contacting them once, do it again. Make your voice heard. Get ahold of friends, family, get them to start burning up the wires to Washington. Write LTTE's, if you are fortunate to live in a city where your Congressperson has an office, pay a personal visit to register your displeasure with Obama's deal.

We have justice, morality, and momentum on our side. Obama and his Republican cronies thought that they could stun the left and slide this through. The House is holding strong for a better deal though, and the Senate is in flux. But it up to us to have our leaders' backs on this.

Therefore just because it is the weekend doesn't mean we can take a break. Flood DC with messages and make it perfectly clear that we want a better deal, a much better deal.

This is how democracy works, so let's work the system. Thanks.

3. Just contacted my senator
This is what I wrote:

Senator Durbin, I urge you to oppose ANY plan to extend tax cuts to the wealthy. The deficit is an economic time bomb, and these tax cuts will shorten the fuse. Furthermore, these tax cuts were intended to render unaffordable programs that help the least fortunate. The Deficit Commission is recommending cuts to Social Security benefits -- HOW CAN THIS BE JUSTIFIED WHILE EXTENDING TAX CUTS TO THE RICH???

13. Aren't you being the classy one,
Equivocating those who want to fight for a better deal with the Teapartiers? I thought you had more class than that. Guess not.

Just goes to show how far, and how over the top Obama supporters will go to defend him, no matter what he does, even when what he is doing is so very wrong.

5. Brownback turned off his fax and email and is not taking calls
He was the only senator who didn't show up to vote on the Dream Act. And he proposed a similar law several years ago. So his vote may indeed have helped pass this law.

I think we should stop paying him.

9. Any ideas of what a better deal would look like?
Increase taxes only for those above 250k? Lower taxes for us peons even more?
Better child tax credits? Higher mortgage deductions?

It would be nice to have something to offer while chatting up the reps.

12. Why not go with what has already passed the House and garnered a majority in the Senate?
Which is an extension of UI benefits and extension of tax cuts for the middle class? These two issues have both already passed the House, they both got the majority of votes in the Senate, but since 'Pugs are gaming the filibuster rule, were unable to pass.

This is a game of political chicken, happens now and again. As time grows short, and constituents put pressure on vulnerable Senators, those votes will change and those two bills will pass. It would help if the President would go out into the field, out into states with vulnerable Senators and stir up the residents to put even more pressure on those Senators, but instead he decided to do the preemptive faceplant cave instead, so we've got to fight even harder. But it is worth it, don't you agree.

14. "This is a game of political chicken"
... and President Obama either chickened out, or he's a fox in the hen house.

BTW, your post is spot-on.

15. I find it ironic, and sadly pathetic, that Obama had Clinton in to do the presser yesterday
After all, Obama turned to the man who played a monumental game of chicken with Newt and the 'Pugs, called their bluff, and pretty much dealt Newt a blow that he never recovered from. That's what a fighter will do, sad that Obama had to call one in to vouch for him, or something(I'm still not sure what that presser was about, it was bizarre. Of course Clinton isn't going to be critical, not with his wife in the administration.)
