I wonder how this shit will pan out. I'm on the line as to what might happen. The people who are doing this have attention spans shorter than those of a gnat. They do shit to fuck with people, then they move on.

Anonymous did this with Scientology, they fought and had a few get togethers where they assembled wearing masks of Guy Fawkes, but it died out. How many people on 4chan were hurt directly by Scientology? They just picked that site/group, they didn't have skin in the game.

They have skin in the game now.

I don't know if that's the same this time. There are real issues here that affect directly the existence of their website, 4chan.org. If the government can put pressure on the method Wikileaks uses to keep itself going, could they do that to 4chan? Already the twitter and the facebook pages of the Anonymous attack have been suspended. Is that a result of a co-ordinated government assault on 4chan, or are facebook and twitter afraid of what the government might do to them? Plus, they could have liability, as it seems someone posted actual credit card numbers on the twitter page. Perhaps they could make a case that twitter should own the damages incurred from that. They did host the page, didn't they?

What's going on is not legal in any sense of the word. DU is not involved in this. We're just discussing it. But I wonder what DU's administrators will say about this. They don't want the liability either, they don't want to get shut down. But maybe that's the method by which people will shut down the opposition to the rulers of this nation, the shadow rulers who are making our government jump and how high it jumps.

It could be a real war...on the internet.

And I have to say, I'd rather side with Anonymous than the powerful corporations/reich wingers who control the governments of the world.

3. Facebook has another page. They've been at it for three hours now.
Would imagine that as soon as one page is taken down another is back up...

4. No idea, but it sure is fascinating.
Probably something all civilizations go through several decades after their version of the Internet is invented.

5. You never really know what will spark people...............
to rise up. Capitalist supression of the Internet could be the trigger. Americans ARE extremely fond of our entertainment. Or not.

I'm just glad to see somebody fighting back in the class war, even if it's just a peripheral front in that war.

6. They allowed DU to be turned into a DDOS/Open Proxy factory during the Iran election.
Not only were non-tech savvy people being directed openly to participate in DDOS attacks (by participating in semi-automated web pages) but DU was also used to disseminate instructions on how to set up open proxy servers and then provide that information so their own internet connection could be used by literally anyone.

This wasn't just a few threads- this was dozens and dozens of threads.
