We don't need a fucking unemployment extension
We need to jack the tax rate on the top 1% up to NINETY FUCKING PERCENT, rip the boards off some factories, and put Americans back to work.

Let's nationalize the solar panel manufacturing industry, and put a factory in every third county in the lower 48 so that Americans aren't beholden to China and Saudi fucking Arabia for the next 500 years. Let's put the roof back on the Packard plant and start making electric cars.

Let's make SOMETHING... ANYTHING... it doesn't matter what.

Let's slap a stiff tariff on foreign goods and Indian call centers and take unemployment here seriously for once, instead of throwing people a few more weeks of money like they're actually going to be magically able to find a job after that time.

Fuck the rich. Forget the rest of the planet. This is a crisis situation like World War II, and it's time to treat it like a crisis situation instead of dicking around.

12. "supposed to lead us"
Presents a challenge when the prevailing political philosophy has nothing to do with governance or leadership.

Fucked indeed.

10. When we were in charge this wasn't a blip on the screen either.
WTH did the Dems do for the last 2 years?

That is the problem with our side of the equation. We only put out safety nets, and don't engage in forward thinking.

9. Like a poster once said - it all comes down to ending these two fucking wars.
ENDING.

Not keeping troops hanging around for maintenance.

ENDING.

The Pentasewer is killing us.

The Rich Money Funnel is killing us.

All of these businesses should be co-ops, BTW. None of this "CEO making 300 Times the Average Worker" crap. Democracy for ALL employees.

And we really, REALLY need to get going on alternate energy investment. America should be leading the charge, but we're just not even making a DENT in this area, IMNSHO.

11. Without jobs....you can extend unemployment benefits all you want...with the same end result ...
More extensions.

No jobs equal no recovery for Main St.

I completely agree with your OP.

13. Absolutely. That needed to be said.
We need a leader who can do it - someone who can rise above politics, a "metapolitician" if you will, and get the job done.

19. The Smoot–Hawley Tariff Act led to the Great Depression
Free trade creates jobs because it allows countries to specialize in things they do well.

Tax cuts for the wealthy work because it gives the wealthy more money so they can create jobs. Just look at all the jobs we created since Bush passed the tax cuts.

NAFTA and other free trade deals have benefited US manufacturing. IT jobs aren't being outsourced to India.

We are all better off because of free trade and no tariffs.

16. Much more sustainable solution especially when you consider the 99ers
who don't get an extension. However, it won't solidify the rich or begin the stealth attack on Social Security so it will not even be considered by the Republicans and their allies.

Hey George, Tax cuts don't matter when you don't have a job.

Guess I'll have to scratch out "George" & write in "Barack."
