I just sent the President a letter asking him not to run in 2012
Here is what I just sent the President;

I write to ask you a favor. That favor being that you please do not seek a second term in office. I do not believe that you deserve a second term. You have caved on every issue of importance. Instead of standing up to the evil that is rotting our government and our nation from the inside out, you cave to that evil. Lyndon Johnson had the intestinal fortitude to realize that sometimes doing what is right is more important than how it looked politically. And when he realized that there was no way for him to win he withdrew from the 1968 race. I think you should do the same. Do it now and throw your weight behind a progressive who will enable our nation to survive instead of collapsing as I fear it will within my lifetime.

I am under no illusion that he would ever see that letter. But that's where I am at right now.

5. All presidents get letters like that from members of the opposition party.
But Obama is getting them, more of them than any previous president, from his own party.

Face it. Right now, DUers are tired of his lack of spine. We are the folks who pay attention to what is going on, read everything and listen to everything. We lead the pack. You see the direction that the rest of the party will take right here.

You may think that Obama's mediocrity is acceptable.

But the majority of DUers and other Democrats who are really paying attention are not falling for all the nonsense about how Obama is just compromising.

We all agree that compromise and working together is necessary.

Problem is that is not what Obama is doing. He is not compromising or working with the other side. He is letting them walk over him. He pretends that he is getting something for what he gives up, but then you look at what he is giving up and what he is getting and you discover that he gave away everything and got virtually nothing. And that happens over and over and over. So before you preach your usual compromise thing, please consider that Obama is the president. As I recall, during the campaign he said something about being a poker player. Well, his problem isn't that he has drawn a bad hand. His problem is that he doesn't know how to play it.

15. I used to be polled by Gallup.
You don't get to explain anything. It is do you approve or not. With one exception, I think, I always said I approved. Put in the position of disapproving of a Democrat in a national poll, I just buckle.

But in a private election booth, I will not vote for him again. I will write in the name of a real Democrat.

I have always worked very hard, put in hours and hours of grass-roots campaigning for Democrats. Obama will have to get himself elected without me. His performance is a disgrace and his condescension toward those who are more progressive than he is, towards those of us who are dissatisfied with his performance is a turn-off if there ever was one.

4. Dear 47of74
I am sorry that I have disappointed you and that you are in such pain and discomfort. I have said many times that if I had to do things that would make me unpopular and threaten a second term for me, that I would do what was right and take that chance. I would not take the easy road and play politics for points and continue the theatre which so many tire of – that I would fight for the American people and I fully believe that I have given that.

I am hoping that you will also send me the copies of the letters you have sent to the weasel fuck republicans, on how disappointed you are in their conduct of obstruction and plain evil-doing - and ask favours of them as well. Why do I get all the grief from every direction? The fuckers are burning down the barn, I'm throwing in buckets of water as fast as I can and you are standing behind the fence, away from the flames, discussing with the republicans what a shitty job I'm doing.

B. Obama

19. Oh stop whining, Obama. You're the fucking President of the United States.
Why don't you take responsibility for yourself and your actions, because we're about sick of your passive-aggressive abuse, your condescension, and your outright bullshit and fabrications. Go get primaried. And stop pretended that you give a damn about us. You clearly don't.

That'd be my response.

I know how you feel. We've been tricked and trapped. And we've been left with no good choices.

I am NOT a happy camper.

10. I'd rather see Obama run again, we're paying for his education now
I'm pretty sure he'll figure out what he did wrong, he's plenty smart. Also, he'll be less worried about having to run again, so maybe he'll be more likely to do the right thing. And he has a pretty good chance as long as the economy continues to recover and unemployment goes down.

11. I did the same thing.
Obama can't stand up to the R's even when a large majority of the country supports his cause (against tax breaks for the rich and for a public option, repeal of DADT).
I'm glad that unemployment benefits were extended but I believe that the two issues could have, and should have been handled separately. The president - and the Democratic party in general - are extremely ineffective at presenting their case to the public. They have no clue how to "rile up the base" and use them to advance their agenda the way the R's do with the teapartiers and Christian fundies.
Instead, the Dems ridicule and alienate their base not realizing that not only does the base vote in large numbers...but they are a very effective means of getting the message out - especially when the MSM has little interest in presenting facts.

13. His resignation from the next campaign would be the only hope
we have to win. As long as he stays in, the base will be totally divided and therefore unable to elect a Democrat.
