How about we reform the tax code in the next 2 years and take an issue away from the Republicans

How about we reform the tax code in the next 2 years and take an issue away from the Republicans
Democrats reformed the tax code in 1986 and if we do so again it would take away the only real issue Republicans have. That should be the focus.

6. Democrats didn't have the Senate in 1986 and it was a Democratic sponsored plan that was passed.

8. the make-up of the Republican Party has changed
the spasmodic,uber-religious right has stolen from the fiscal right.There is no reasoning with them.

5. my view
if changes are about tax simplification and revenue neutral tax cuts while eliminating deductions for politically favored industries it should be pretty popular with Americans and it's something that can get passed w/ a divided congress.

7. Democrats no longer have the majority so they don't set the agenda
The ONLY things that will get done are Republican proposals...It is going to be interesting to see how Obama goes along with them..
