I've asked the mods this by PM several times over the years but never gotten a response. DU has been active for 10 years now, with over 165,000 registrations and over 52 million posts. Wouldn't it be fascinating to get a glimpse at the community?
1)how many registered users have ever posted and how many have not 2)how many users have started their own threads 3)how many users log-in at least once a day, etc. 4)a breakdown of post frequency (1+ a day, week, year) 5)how many registrations have been tombstoned 6)on average, how many registrations are browsing or posting at any given time 7)what is the average "age" of an active DU account
It might help the interactions to know many regular DU'ers are just reading and how many are actively engaging in the conversation. We might see a positive affect on the general civility of DU if long-time members knew how many DUer's at any given time are new and are evaluating the conversation and the interactions to determine whether they want to stay.
I'm not a programmer so don't know how long it would take to compile this information. Lots of it could be extrapolated from a DU survey though too. Is this just totally useless information to most DU'ers or would anyone else be interested to know more about the place we spend so much time?
