Obama Muslim?
Edited on Sun Dec-05-10 12:53 PM by Jeffersons Ghost
Today, I read a survey stating that one in five Americans believe Barrack Obama is a Muslim.

I also saw a cleverly edited movie designed to prove Obama is Muslim. In fact, he is a Presbyterian, who is defending the rights of Muslims to worship in their own way. Obama was also reaching out to Muslim nations worldwide to end strife and hate, in the same way he is reaching out to Republicans to end our economic woes. Obama wants to reduce our involvement in the expensive wars in Iraq and Afghanistan: But he can't do it without support, both here in the US and abroad. It's too early to judge his efforts.

Too many Americans despise ALL Muslims for what a few misguided individuals did on 9/11: Their hate and intolerance is destroying all that America stands for, while keeping us in unaffordable wars. War feeds inflation. These wars are costing more than our economy. Our lengthy occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan are costing lives.

Ending the wars will bring prosperity back to the middle class. Many Americans feared that the end of World War II and the subsequent drop in military spending might bring back the hard times of the Great Depression. But instead, pent-up consumer demand fueled exceptionally strong economic growth in the post war period.

Obama has sworn he will end these wars: But he can't do it alone. Powerful forces all over the world are attempting to block his efforts.

The president is also sworn to uphold the Constitution, instead of abolishing its Fourth Amendment like the Republican controlled government did, not long after 9/11, with The USA PATRIOT Act. This law was passed out of fear. Will we forfeit more rights and jobs because we're a nation that fears terrorism and hates Muslims?

The First Amendment to the US Constitution states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

In America, Christians, Muslims, Jews and other religions have the right to worship in their own ways.

Gigantic US corporations are owned or controlled by financiers - many in foreign countries - who want strife. These big businesses create conflict between Christians and Muslims. They also feed on conflict between Democrats and Republicans with carefully placed news releases. Strife serves their financial interests, while it destroys our rights and prosperity.

It's easy to criticize and hard to unify a nation that is in serious trouble. Obama is already having some results. The Republican party, which has called themselves "the party of No" for the last two years is changing their tune.

Republican senator credits Obama with reaching out
(AP) – 1 hour ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — A veteran GOP senator credits President Barack Obama with reaching out more to Republicans since last month's election, but he also says there are some in the GOP who don't want to go along with anything the White House wants.

Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana says he believes that Obama's efforts have been appreciated by the GOP leadership. And Lugar says it may turn out the Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Obama may see "more eye to eye" than others about how the lame-duck session of Congress should end up.

Lugar tells CNN's "State of the Union" that McConnell seems to be dealing with a faction in their own party that doesn't want to go along with anything Obama wants — and that the GOP must never become "the party of no."

Eight years of Republican leadership got us into two wars that have run up the national debt to over $13 trillion. Now, Republican leaders have the gall to blame Democrats that have only been in power for two years for this debt. They didn't mention "national debt" when Bush was president and they controlled the House and Senate.

Big corporations that own and control most of the TV stations, radio stations and newspapers are doing all they can to make Obama's efforts to unify our nation unpopular. Will we continue to mimic their efforts to destroy unity at this site?

Aesop said, "In union there is strength." Will we continue to weaken our nation with hate, intolerance, fear and conflict?

1. "there are some in the GOP who don't want to go along with anything the White House wants." Indeed
If it is legislation that Pres Obama likes, they will automatically block it. And indeed then who gets vs who SHOULD get the blame?

6. All too true.
I wonder about the people here who insist Obama can get whatever he wants just by advocating for it. The more an issue appears to matter to him, the LESS likely he'll get any Republicans to go along with it.

arms reduction bills when Obama was a Senator.

My State Republican Senator ran as a "Moderate Do What's Right For Our State" Republican. Yesterday he was out front with FAUX OUTRAGE about the Dems Middle Class only tax cuts, and following the McConnell talking points to the letter.

5. Always 28% of the population are total imbeciles.
Nothing can be done to change that.

And 20% will be blithering idiots as well.

7. I'm not so bright sometimes. Here's a retraction from the OP
Presidential hopeful Barack Obama belongs to the United Church of Christ, one of the country's most racially diverse and liberal Protestant denominations -- the first to ordain an openly gay minister and to call for equal marriage rights for all people, regardless of gender.
