3. I'll bet the good doctor is heartsick - just like many of us who first...
...worked to elect him, and then Obama.

You're right, once again the prez waved the white flag before the skirmish began - when all the cards were in his hands. Amazing!

4. Howard Dean Built Obama??
Or the Progessive movement? Ya learn somethin' new around here every day. I give Dr. Dean a lot of credit for revitalizing the Progressive spirit in American politics but as head of the DNC his 50-state strategy included a lot of Blue Dogs.

Regarding the pay freeze...a stunt that, as you say, this administration surrendered without a fight. Even worse, this was an idea they shot down months ago. Howard Dean isn't the only one embarassed by watching this administration flail around.

5. Obama was one of the Dean Dozen
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dean_Dozen

saying that howard dean and dean for america helped put a lot of money and momentum behind obama would be putting it lightly.

howard dean helped revitalize and yank our party into the 21st century when other of our leaders were voting for the iraq war.

it was howard dean's 50 state strategy that actually won us elections where triangulation was losing them.

2008 was the house that dean built.

6. Yep - and Obama profusely thanked him during his speech at Grant Park...
'Course he then kicked Howard to the curb.

7. He Also Helped Elect A Lot Of Blue Dogs...
I admire Dr. Dean and all he stands for and what he's done to help the party, but the "house he built" in 2008 was full of Blue Dogs that were the first to fall last year. Also...dare I say, some credit would also have to go to Rahm Emmanuel (herasay I say) who also recruited a lot of those who won as well as Chuck Schummer.

The blogosphere did more in footpower than it did in money. A vast majority of Obama's money came from the "usual" suspects...corporate and big money donors. The real help was in the grassroots work through the DFA and OFA...that's what's been squandered since Dr. Dean left the DNC...and yes, it had a big effect on the elections.

Did Dean put momentum behind Obama? Not from the primaries I was watching. He was very neutral in supporting any candidate and only became involved...and in a very limited fashion...once President Obama had secured the delegates to get the nomination.

The hallmark of a political movement is its staying power. Look at how the GOTB hang onto the glory of Raygun (most of which is all fantasy) but it's endured for over 30 years. Sadly the movement Dr. Dean built folded like a deck of cards in 2010.

Cheers...

13. Rahm brought in the blue dogs
I don't know about Dean electing blue dogs. Can you give me some links to support that? Thanks.

12. So by that logic you must think Michael Steele is a political genius
for winning back the House.

8. Maybe they need to replace the Stars and Stripes
with a white surrender flag over the White house.

9. The "meeting" is a waste of everyone's time except the republicans who will have the media report
it as a victory for them. "Obama is finally doing what we want" and all that crap. They can also demonstrate their lack of respect for him and make their teabagger base happy.
