Is WikiLeaks about to bust a Bankster?
Edited on Mon Nov-29-10 07:17 PM by marmar
via AlterNet:

WikiLeaks' Next Target: American Bank?

In an interview with Forbes, Julian Assange hints that WikiLeaks may soon be going after the people who torpedoed the world economy. Assange tells reporter Andy Greenberg that about 50% of the documents WikiLeaks is sitting on relate to the private sector, and teases that the site may reveal damning information about an American bank:

“It will give a true and representative insight into how banks behave at the executive level in a way that will stimulate investigations and reforms, I presume,” he said, adding: “For this, there’s only one similar example. It’s like the Enron emails.”

Asked if the corporate materials would be high impact, Assange demurs:

Yes, but maybe not as high impact…I mean, it could take down a bank or two.

2. I am afraid Assange has over estimated U.S. attention span.
And, the level of care (non-care) of our legislators and Executive branch.

a lot.

6. "I mean, it could take down a bank or two."
Don't worry - the defenders of the status quo who are currently in charge will be sure to prop them back up, with all manner of political justifications, legal waivers and good ol' taxpayer money if necessary.

7. Good luck getting any reform through with republicans running the house
If he wanted reform for the big banks that caused this mess then he should have released those documents months ago. Perhaps he didn't have the documents damaging to the banks then, he does seem to wait at least a few months after getting documents before releasing them, probably helps better protect his sources.

9. Assange Isn't Daniel Elsberg...
As much as some wish it to be. The fact he's a foreigner in many ways discredits him in this country...especially in the eyes of the corporate media. Elsberg's revelations were a major disclosure since he was involved in the government and in the process...his coming forward from the inside gave the revelations a lot of credibility.

While interesting reading...and in some cases verification of what many of us believed, there's very little fire here. Now if someone from the previous regime would come forward...first person, first-hand knowledge with strong crededentials and credibility, it'd be another story.

10. True, Assange isn't Daniel Ellsberg. Daniel Ellsberg has probably coached
him from the sidelines. The Safe Sidelines I hope. Bradley Manning's been in military prison for seven months. My brain won't take me to that land where we find out what's been done to HIS brain. :scared:
