www.korea-dpr.com Service Temporarily Unavailable
If you try to get North Korea's propaganda spin on the hostilities within the last 24 hours, you get this message informing you that the server is either temporarily overloaded or undergoing maintenance. Considering how few North Koreans have permits to access any Internet sites, let alone computers with which to access them, something tells me server overload isn't the problem here.

Does anyone have links to video responses by DPRK officials? I hear on NPR that some of them were tragically laughable.

7. Considering how autoparodizing the KCNA gets I sorta imagine they'd want to let them babble
It could just be the intarwebz in general - given the KCNA's website's hosted in Japan it's not like North Korea has a glorious net infrastructure - or bored script kiddies, too.

6. Li'l Kim may have to scale back on his Hennessy consumption for just a bit
Y'know, just long enough to walk into the computer room, give the server a kick, and then send the techie responsible for the upkeep to the gulags.

9. I can just hear the chatter in their IT room now...
Edited on Tue Nov-23-10 07:43 PM by hughee99
"Somebody reboot the VAX system"
"Does anyone know COBOL"?
"You can't play the ColecoVision and run the servers at the same time, stupid".
"We just upgraded to the 56k modem, we think that's what's causing the problems, sir".

5. I heard that the idiots at 4chan were hacking NK servers
to provoke hostilities.

I have no idea how to navigate that site to confirm though.

8. Hence my question above...
..which was meant to be only partly humorous.

Do I dare go over there to investigate?

13. Sorry, I don't get the reference - but if you know how
to navigate that site, go for it!!

My source is tech-savvy and reputable, so this would not surprise me one bit if true.

10. Lest we forget...
...here's North Korea's "Fucking USA" music video, which I think was produced by the DPRK with help from some sympathizers south of the DMZ:

11. Damn... I was on Chapter 832 of Glorious Leader's Explanation of... something or other

I never found the news on that site to be very timely, though.

I agree, though, they right the most bizarre propaganda, bar none. You sometimes wonder if the writers are having a contest of some kind.
