http://tek84.com/castscope.html

(I'm not kidding, this is really what TSA uses and there's no "opt out" of this that i know of)

"CastScope is the first system designed to screen persons with casts and prosthetic limbs for concealed weapons and contraband. CastScope permits rapid inspection of artificial limbs, casts and bandages "in-place" ensuring passengers' comfort and convenience. CastScope uses advanced backscatter X-ray technology to create a detailed image of the inside of a cast, making the screening process faster and more effective than current methods. CastScope can detect metal, non-metal, and liquid threats (or contraband) hidden in casts, prosthetic limbs and bandages. "

4. If that's anything like a fluoroscope, they expose people to HUGE
amounts of radiation.

Once again, what kind of shielding is provided to travelers standing nearby, operators, and the hapless victims??

10. I'm sure the purchase contract states we can't sue them when they irradiate us too.
That's just "good business sense."

12. Sort of...Congress gave them special protection in the SAFETY Act. Ironic.
https://www.safetyact.gov/jsp/homepages/displayHomeAbout.do

"The Act creates certain liability limitations for "claims arising out of, relating to, or resulting from an act of terrorism" where qualified anti-terrorism technologies have been deployed."

"...establish confidentiality protocols for maintenance and use of information submitted to the Department under the SAFETY Act and this Part. Such protocols shall, among other things, ensure that the Department will utilize all appropriate exemptions from the Freedom of Information Act."
