News Corp makes a play into education
Oh crap!!

"News Corp. (NWS) snapped up a 90% stake in educational software and services company Wireless Generation for $360 million in cash, giving it an entry into the educational industry.

Wireless Generation combines software, data systems and services designed to assess a student's progress and provide individualized curriculum based on their current needs. Wireless Generation will operate as one of News Corp.'s many subsidiaries.

"When it comes to K through 12 education, we see a $500 billion sector in the U.S. alone that is waiting desperately to be transformed by big breakthroughs that extend the reach of great teaching," said News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch in a statement."

2. Murdoch hired Joel Klein straight from his gig in NYC.
This is the other shoe dropping.

There's a tiny chance that the special board appointed to decide whether Bloomberg's proposed replacement for Klein, Cathy Black -- who has no experience whatsoever in schools, and therefore does not meet the legal requirements for NYC schools chancellor -- will receive a necessary waiver from New York State.

But now you needn't wonder how the Newscorp media will be spinning the matter.

9. Hey, it's the new growth industry
Lots of profits to be made. It's like "plastics" in the 60's.

Better get in on the ground floor.
