1. A classic
Anybody here seen my old friend John?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
I just looked around and he's gone.

5. Just the opening line of that song brings tears...
So poignant.

6. Awesome song. It really tied them all together.
And from the guy who sang "Runaround Sue."

About 20 years ago, I took my kids to a theme park and Paul Anka was performing at its theatre. So, I yelled "sing Runaround Sue!"

8. The sad fact is, that good is hated, just for being good.
I'm glad that I'm old enough to have lived in their time, and to have my own memories of them and the events they moved. We don't have leaders like that anymore. With their murders, we lost something intangible - a quality of being - that we never got back.

A nation that murders its best. That is an awful indictment of us. They were murdered by some, rather than accept the progress they could've led us to.

That song (of the OP title) is so haunting, and beautiful, and true. I miss their presence in the world, more as time goes by.

11. Let's remember him . . . together.
My friend was named John.

Such a waste of a talented man.
Cut short at 19.
