You're just dead wrong if you think the lefties have somehow jumped on a right wing bandwagon. The fact is, TSA has created an ever escalating agency of revulsion that only now became more than that fat fucking drug addict can stand. The fact is, the right finally figured out how to garner common cause with the left for their own good.

Had Obama not defended the latest antics in totalitarianism from HIS appointee, we would not be here.

Lefties have ALWAYS opposed TSA, from the day it was formed. Don't blame this on Liberals. If you do, you have never been more wrong.

1. A lot of people have suddenly jumped on the bandwagon.
And I agree that many of them aren't actual lefties. Or at least, pushing left causes in a productive way isn't their top priority.

4. Correct. Lefties have always opposed infringements on civil liberties -
TSA, Patriot Act, etc., etc.

5. They have been opposed not only by liberals, even by the EU
and in many other countries, successfully. Civil rights orgs, Public Health orgs and medical and science experts have opposed them. It's ironic and just one more bad sign, that what even Bush could not do, sell these machines to the public, a Democrat just got done so smoothly and with even worse abuses attached to them.

Napolitano ordered the purchase of them with Stimulus money. Obama tells us he understands how we feel, but it's necessary. I just wish they would stop insulting our intelligence. I like and respect more my enemies who do not try to pretend they are my friends.

6. Civil libertarianism is part of what it means to be progressive/from the Left
We may not beat people over the head with our pocket sized Constitution nor screech that we are constitutionalists in every other sentence as the rw does, yet we have always stood for the protection of our civil liberties. May I add that when we speak up on behalf of our Constitutional rights, the rw usually calls us "commies" or some other derogatory term.

Thanks for this thread, StC. :hi:

27. I've often wondered what things would look like
around here if Bush was still in office and doing this stuff. Strange how things like extraordinary rendition, Gitmo, and Art III trials for terror suspects, etc. aren't such a problem after 2008, no?

10. I stopped flying in protest when the TSA put that poor girl in leg
irons and threw her on a plane to Iceland because she once overspent her visa which proved to the mouth-breathing goons that she was a terrorist.

BTW, that was 2007. Haven't missed it.

15. Liberalism is dead
Actual liberals want free speech, to be able to draw cartoons of whomever they want, not be put in hiding.
Actual liberals want POPULATION CONTROL, not allowing the ENDLESS third world to crash the gate, and stagnate our wages, schools, healthcare, AND JOBS...
Actual liberals want CARBON CONTROL, so why no protests on China, who is STILL POLLUTING US AIR with their 1940s industrial pollution standards, that story was dropped a LONG time ago.

Liberalism is DEAD, been replaced by Politically Correct insanity a long time ago.

22. Which lefties opposed the TSA when it was created?
It passed the Senate with 100 Ayes and 0 Nays. It passed the House with 410 Ayes, 9 Nays, 14 Present/Not Voting. The 9 Nays were from Republicans.

28. Which proves what?
It demonstrates the lack of resolve our elected Dems have. Or it proves they're not liberals.

What it does not do is disprove my OP.

24. "Actual liberals"?? What is your litmus test to detect "fake liberals"?
Kind of a meaningless term, dontcha think, given that the terms "liberal" and "conservative" are generally self-reported to start with?

26. Opposed the TSA since the day it was formed?
Some portion of the left would have been for it as a safety concern - like the OOSHA and such things, they want the public protected from business' negligence.

It's the right wing that would always be against it or "let the market take care of it."
