The more Obama caves, the more crazy the wingers get.
Edited on Sun Nov-21-10 08:27 PM by thunder rising
The closest analogy is a shark feeding frenzy.

There is no bipartisanship. The more Obama tries to pacify the right the farther right they go. There was a cartoon about it no more than a week ago.

Republican: "You move first and then I'll move."
Obama step to the middle.
Republican moves equally distant back.

There is no compromise now. It's gotten to where Obama looks like he's suffering from Stockholm syndrome.

I've gone from supporting him to fearing what he'll do next.

If he will not stand up to them they WILL mercilessly abuse him. There is no compromise with the Republicans.

This rant was brought on by the real possibility that the SALT II treaty will not be ratified because the Republicans will not let Obama have any sort of victory. Even when it's in the interest of the PEOPLE of the United States of America. Obama (I heard) even reached out to James Baker to present the case to the wingers. When Baker can't talk sense to them, there is no controlling their hatred. Note, it's about the black and nothing more. They smelled tasted blood and are no longer circling; the wingers are taking chunks.

Now I'm the one that's out buying ammo, 'cause I'm the one fearing that I'll be defending myself from 2nd amendment solutions.

4. Right, let's assert the "blame" properly ...
They spent the entire first half of this decade painting half the country as terrorist loving unamerican scumbags ...

They are flat friggen mean, angry and dishonest regardless of what you do ...

I know people don't get it here for the most part, but he is making good on the whole crux of what he ran on in doing HIS part to try to not have the partisan rancor ... I agree he goes too far in dealing with people who have not given him the FIRST bit of honest dealings, but ...

Again, he is not MAKING them any meaner, they would be mean and indignant if he did not try to work with them just the same ...

BUT, I would say, at some point you have to throw in the towel at least a bit, and say, they aren't going to deal reasonably regardless, so you gotta just do what is right ...

He DOES call them out, and more than a lot on here will want to admit, but the MSM won't vibe with it - a whole nother discussion ...

6. "they would be mean and indignant". That's right, so it's time to quit provoking crazy people
by giving them credibility.

Edited on Mon Nov-22-10 12:03 AM by applegrove
will make his followers take a paranoid stance towards the psychopaths enemies. In this case the a mid sized group of lobbyists and the business & rich elites are the psychopaths and the GOP congress critters and other GOPers are the ones with the paranoid stance. They LOATH Obama. They are such a bunch of pawns it isn't even funny.

5. Give these fuckers an inch, they'll take a mile EVERY time.
Has history taught us absolutely NOTHING? You cannot compromise with assholes. Sometimes an asshole is just simply a cannot-be-reasoned-with, wrong-about-every-goddamned-thing ASSHOLE and that is THAT. I always thought that a Repub geezer/old-wealthy die-off would be the only thing that would cure this nation of its crappiness, but it's just not happening. Conservative "fuck you, I got MINES" groupthink multiplies like a hydra and infects like a virus.

7. But that's the RW pattern from before auld lang syne. How can anyone be surprised?
You move to meet them, they move even further right and attack you as a Soviet secret agent and your offer of compromise as a writ from Moscow.

19. Rope-a-dope works in duels, not with mobs.
President Obama may work well in campaigns. But he doesn't have the longevity in politics to show how he would withstand the fury of an unthinking, untiring mob frenzy.

I think that we are tragically finding out the answer how he is not capable of changing tactics against such an onslaught. I used to give him the benefit of the doubt that this was a survival tactic of African Americans in the face of white bigotry; being as placating as possible in order to disarm. However, that only works when you are not the poor black man under the cross hairs of a lynch mob...

I don't dislike the man, but he is definitely the wrong man for the times. We as a nation are too far gone to sit together, break bread, and ready to make nice.

Edited on Mon Nov-22-10 04:04 AM by w4rma
So, they try for more and more and more. Until he learns to stand up for himself, they will only get crazier.

I blame this wholly on the DLCers he surrounds him with and whom are holding positions of power in Congress, btw. They have tied his hands for his entire first term with their demands.

24. Last Push for Getting Bills Through in the Lame Duck
We are in the home stretch of our petition, we need a little less than 900 signatures to reach our goal of 10,000 by Nov. 25th when it's sent out. Please sign it if you haven't already and share it in any way you can think of.

After Michael Moore mentioned our petition in his article http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/mike-friends-blog/lets-pass-some-laws">Let's Pass Some Laws Before the Republicans Head Into Town (after all, that's what they'd do) on Tuesday, we had a huge surge of signatures But it's slowed down now and we need to make another big push. Thanks in advance!
