Seasonal Compassion on Small Businesses

Many small business people and sole proprietors are hurting terribly right now. Without a cushion, a credit line, or new business, these people -- who are your neighbors -- will have a very rough go of the next six weeks particularly.

If you owe some money to a small business and can pay it, please do so this week.

If you can hire someone to do some work for you, please do so.

If you can refer business, or buy something, or think of some way to light a fire that will help those who are struggling, please do it.

Personal anecdote: a small family business has two clients who have not paid yet for November. The clients are well able to pay, just too busy they say.

In a small family business, that could spell trouble paying utilities, food insecurity, a bleak holiday, even eviction in some cases.
