Need help with Westboro Baptist Church...

Does anyone know how to find out where these asshats are going to show up for one of their soldier-funeral protests? Our small community just lost a soldier in Afghanistan and I'd like to see about organizing a counter-protest if they are going to be there. We aren't that far way from Topeka so it wouldn't take much for them to get here. Any help would be much appreciated.

1. They have to apply for a permit to assemble, iirc. That would be public record.

7. Found their picket schedule but notice that it doesn't have any funerals listed.

That website is beyond disturbing.

I have kept up with them because I have plans to make many of the angel wings - those like were used at the Matthew Shepard trial to shelter family's eyes from those hateful people.

After I make the wings, I'll contact the families of the fallen and ask them if they would like me to send the wings to them so that they can get friends of the family to surround these goons so the family won't have to see them as much.

However, very often they announce they will show-up someplace and then never come.

Very often they will send like three or four people someplace who shout for a few minutes and then leave.

I have a protest idea, and as far as I know, it's never been done to them before.

My idea is to protest them using signs that have photos of the people who have left their cult and been disowned.

Some of them have left behind children, parents and siblings who protest with Phelps.

I have a feeling this may be the one thing that can get under their skin.

Show them photos of their missing mommies.

8. A friend of my daughter's handled this situation in her hometown...

following the death of soldier in her small city. She went to the police and explained to them exactly what was going to happen when the Westboro Baptist showed up. I don't know all the details, but the police ended up closing streets and forcing the "protest" to an area quite far away and shielded from the funeral area. The police were more than willing to work with her. The group was far enough away that only a few people really noticed them. Also, they were given absolutely NO press coverage.
