I BULLSHIT YOU NOT: Mediaite defends Willow against criticism for FB meltdown
The enablers of the Palin families' sense of entitlement are worse than she is.

Willow Palin Should Not be Attacked For Calling Someone ‘F*ggot’ on Facebook

by Tommy Christopher | 11:19 pm, November 16th, 2010

TMZ is reporting that Willow Palin, 16 year-old daughter of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (and sister of newly-minted Dancing with the Stars champion Bristol Palin) struck back at a critic of her mom’s TLC show by calling him “f*ggot,” along with a string of other obscenities. The incident is being widely reported on the internet, and while Miss Palin’s word choice is, indeed, homophobic, it would be unfair to label her a “homophobe.” If anything, the lengthy exchange illustrates the lack of thought that goes into this kind of name-calling, and presents an opportunity to get these kids thinking, instead of fighting back.

Read the full, uncensored exchange after the jump. The Facebook flame war in question was touched off by a comment from someone named Tre, who said of Sarah Palin’s TLC show, “”Sarah Palin’s Alaska, is failing so hard right now.”
-snip-

There are probably already people who are looking to score points, political or otherwise, based on this story. They are wrong. Willow Palin is a child, and she is not fair game. If this story was not already halfway around the world, I’m not sure we would be reporting it. Since it is, though, putting it into the proper perspective is the only responsible thing to do.

There will be some who are tempted to use this as an indictment of Sarah Palin as a parent, or to connect it with Republican opposition to gay rights, or to paint Willow as a homophobe who didn’t fall far from the tree. These instincts are completely wrong, and they muddy the true lesson here.

2. Christopher is not Mediaite; he's a columnist
Mediaite has both liberal and conservative columnists, so the site offers some diversity of political opinion.

5. I agree children are off limits ..........UNLESS
the parents use them to further Their agenda
then all bets are off. It belongs on the parents
to decide if their children are important to them
or if their agenda is more important

6. Lemmee take a wild guess at this one...
Sarah will publicly take a stand against Willow's choice of words, but will excuse them as a baby grizzly protecting its mama.

Meanwhile; back at home, there will be high-fives for bashing both the "Godless Gays" and "Sarah haters" in a single Facebook post.

10. I can find by google about 65K facebook pages that contain the f-word
For those who want to take this on, there's a facebook group

Remove "Faggot" From the Facebook Vocabulary
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6661678767

Personally, I think appropriate comments in person are the best way to handle this sort of childish behavior from teens and others. And I can't see that there's much political upside or much chance of any real success in attacking a teenager who lives thousands of miles away from most of us, no matter how distasteful we find her mother

Maybe those who feel this is important can begin alerting on thousands of facebook pages -- or can suggest some other action suggestion beyond mere noisy outrage that accomplishes zilch
